Colt London Retailer Cased
New York Engraved Cloverleaf
House Model Revolver - Serial
no. 2134, 41 RF cal., 3 inch round
bbl., nickel finish, antique ivory
grips. Manufactured in 1871, the
first year of production. Floral
scroll and punch dot engraving is
featured on the rear sides of the
frame, behind the hammer, and
on the sides of the spur trigger.
An engraved scallop pattern is
featured on the top strap. The top
of the barrel is marked “COLTS
HOUSE PISTOL/HARTFORD CT.
U.S.A.” flanked by Maltese crosses.
The barrel is numbered to the
gun. The blue velvet lined oak
case has a Colt’s Pall Mall, London, paper label on the inside
of the lid. The revolver lacks British proofs. The case has a cartridge block holding 13 rounds.
CONDITION: Very fine. The revolver retains 80%
period retailer applied nickel finish with the
balance a smooth gray patina. The slightly
undersize grips are fine showing a couple of
stress cracks near the screw and some minor
handling marks with an attractive color.
Mechanically excellent. The case is fine with
some minor handling/storage marks and
some high spot wear on the lining. Nearly all of the label remains. Estimate: 3,000 - 4,500

Exceptional Cased British Retailer Marked Colt Etched Panel New House Model Revolver - Serial no. 12659, 38 LC cal., 2 1/4 inch round bbl., nickel finish, hard rubber grips. Manufactured in 1881. Standard two- line Hartford address on top of the barrel, patent date on the bottom and “COLT NEW 38” in an etched panel on the left. The back strap is engraved “F.T.BAKER. GUN MANUFACTURER, LONDON.” The English oak case features a F.T. Baker of London paper label on the interior of the case.
The oak case is lined in green baize and contains an oiler, a case key, a brass cleaning rod, a screwdriver, and five .380 Eley cartridges. This revolver is one of roughly 4,000 manufactured from 1880-1886,
as a continuation of the “house”
revolver line, and part of Colt’s
“New” line of revolvers.
CONDITION: Exceptionally fine, retaining
85% plus original nickel plating overall with
slight flaking around the front of the cylinder. The etched panel is
crisp. The blue on the back of the hammer, trigger, cylinder pin and
pin catch is bright and slightly fading on the screws. The grips are excellent with crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. The case is
very fine some minor handling/storage marks on the exterior and
typical high spot wear on the lining. Nearly all of the retailer label remains. Estimate: 3,000 - 4,500

London Agency Cased Silver Plated
Colt Third Model “Thuer” Deringer
- Serial no. 37692, 41 RF cal., 2 1/2 inch
round bbl., blue/silver finish, hardwood
grips. These derringers were introduced
in 1870 and totaled around 48,000
produced. The left side of the frame on
this deringer is marked with a “C” and
Rampant Colt, as well as the caliber
marking. This example has a unique,
two-line address “COLT’S FIRE ARMS
CO./14 PALL MALL LONDON.” on the left
of the barrel, a marking that may have
been applied by the retailer and that is
seldom seen on a Third Model deringer,
and was reportedly deemed illegal at the time. The right side of the frame is
engraved with the retailer’s marking “E.M. REILLY & Co. LONDON.” The top of
the barrel has a rounded blade front sight and “COLT” in large italic letters
and the bottom of the barrel has small British proofs. The serial number is
marked on the left of the grip frame and inside the right grip It is fitted with
a pair of smooth hardwood. Includes an oak presentation case with Colt
London Agency label inside the lid, cleaning rod, key, and two .41 RF cartridges.
CONDITION: Very good, retains 98% plus of the retailer applied blue finish and 30% of the silver plating on the frame with the balance having thinned to reveal an attractively aged brass. The grips are very fine with some scattered light handling marks and retaining most of the varnish. Mechanically excellent.

no. 15456, 41 CF cal., 2
1/4 inch round bbl., blue
finish, hardwood grips.
Manufactured in 1883, this
pair of revolvers are two of
only approximately 4,000
New House Model revolvers
produced. The top of the
barrels have the two-line
address, and the “COLT NEW
41” etched panel is on the
left sides. There are British
proofs on the barrel and
cylinder of both. They both have standard
features. The serial numbers are on the
butts and the standard patent dates are on
the bottom of the barrels. The grips on the “B” gun are numbered to
match and the grips on “A” are stamped “1865” on the butts of both
panels. Includes a leather wrapped hard case, oiler, cleaning rod, key,
and twelve .41 CF cartridges.
CONDITION: Fine, retains 50% plus of the original blue finish with the balance having mostly thinned to a smooth grey-brown patina and some scattered light spotting, primarily on the butt and back strap. The grips are fine with a few minor chips and a minor flat spot on each panel towards the bottom. Mechanically excellent. The case is fine with loose partitions and mild handling/storage wear overall. B) Colt New House .41 Revolver - Serial no. 15471, 41 CF cal., 2 1/4 inch round bbl., blue finish, hardwood grips. See “A”.
CONDITION: Fine, retains 70% plus of the original blue finish with the balance having thinned to a mixture of grey and brown patina, mostly noticeably on the barrel, a few scattered patches of light pitting, and a well- defined etched panel. The grips are also fine with a large chip absent from the right panel and otherwise minimal handling marks. Mechanically excellent.
