Rare Cased Engraved Hanquet, Liege Six-Shot Percussion Transitional Revolver with Gas-Seal Cylinder and
Extra Barrel and Shoulder Stock to Convert to a Pistol Carbine - Serial no. 190, 54 bore cal., 6 inch octagon bbl., blue/casehardened finish, walnut stock. The
revolver with blued octagonal sighted barrel signed “MANUF.ED BY J.B. HANQUET LIEGE” and fitted with a sprung casehardened rammer to the right side with sprung
hinged handle. Plain reciprocating cylinder of Lang gas-seal type with the chambers numbered from “1” to “6”. Casehardened action engraved with scrollwork and with
blued hammer. Scroll engraved furniture comprising blued trigger guard, casehardened butt cap with hinged trap cover and a grip strap plate with pierced aperture for
the removable carbine stock. Walnut butt with fine multi-point checkering. With additional 22 1/2 inch octagonal blued carbine barrel with matching “MANUF.ED BY J.B. HANQUET LIEGE”
signature, serial numbered to the revolver, and fitted with an identical sprung casehardened rammer to the right side with sprung hinged handle. The carbine conversion is completed by
a removable figured walnut butt stock with blued scroll engraved heel plate. The revolver and the carbine parts contained in its original brass cornered veneered close fitted case lined in green baize, with some accessories including double cavity brass bullet mold and brass mounted lacquered copper powder flask.
CONDITION: Fine. The revolver barrel and the carbine barrel each retain 85% original blued finish with some age related mottling and small scattered patches of light surface corrosion. The signatures are clear. The cylinder is a bright finish with scattered surface corrosion spotting. The action retains faded traces of original casehardened finish, crisp engraving, and scattered surface corrosion spotting like the cylinder. The walnut butt has scattered minor storage and handling marks and bruises. The checkering remains well-defined. Mechanically excellent. The case is very good with some external marking. One brass decorative band from the case lid is missing, and the other is loose in places. The brass lid stop is also missing. There is some age wear to the lining, an internal partition tray distorted in one corner, and a compartment lid missing.
Checkered walnut grips. Birmingham proof marks. In original fitted mahogany case lined in crimson velvet, with accessories including iron bullet mold with integrated rammer, brass mounted copper powder flask, wad punch, case key, turnscrew, pewter oiler and bronze colored loading rod. CONDITION: Fine. The barrel has 90% bright original high polish blued finish. The cylinder and bar hammer retain 90% original casehardened finish. The action retains 40% original blued finish. The trigger guard has traces of original blued finish. The engraving is clear throughout. The checkering is sharp on the very fine grips. One grip has a very small chip at the bottom corner. The case is good. The lid has a storage crack to back edge, and some corners of the case would benefit from rejoining. The lining is sun faded and has wear marks. Mechanically excellent.
Accessories are all very good to fine. Estimate: 9,000 - 14,000
 Fine Cased Engraved English Six- Shot Bar Hammer Percussion Transitional Revolver - NSN, 70 bore cal., 5 3/8 inch octagon bbl., blue/casehardened finish, checkered walnut grips. Blued octagonal barrel with brass bead front sight and engraved with a band of stylized foliage at the muzzle. Border engraved casehardened cylinder, blued scroll engraved action extending to form the grip-strap, blued scroll engraved trigger guard and casehardened engraved bar hammer.
