Desirable Antique Lindner Built Factory Game Scene
Engraved Charles Daly Diamond Quality Double Barrel Shotgun - Serial
no. 3555, 12 gauge, 30 inch solid rib bbl., blue/casehardened finish, walnut stock.
Blued Damascus steel barrels with single bead sight on the matted concave solid rib which is marked “CHARLES DALY EXTRA FINE DAMASCUS BARRELS DIAMOND QUALITY”, chambers measured 2 5/8 inches with single extractor, and the pre-1890 H. A. Lindner “crown/crossed pistols proof on the underside of either barrel. The casehardened Anson & Deeley patent
boxlock action displays attractive carved fences
and extensive floral scroll engraving surrounding
“CHARLES DALY.” in banners on either side as well as a pointer and a pair of game birds on the underside. The engraving
extends to the tangs, toplever, and trigger guard which also shows a game scene of a fox. The gun features double trigger, cocking indicators, and tang mounted automatic safety switch with gold inlaid “SAFE”.
Beautifully figured, multi-point checkered splinter forend with engraved fittings and horn tip inlay as well as the rounded pistol grip stock with checkered flats, carved flats, inlaid horn grip cap, blank inscription oval, and checkered horn buttplate. CONDITION: Very fine, showing strong Damascus pattern on the barrels with a brown patina, traces of case
colors on the action with the balance an attractive silver patina, some minor discoloration on the action
from oil, and light handling evidence. The wood is fine and shows a some dings and scratches concentrated on the stock, a few insect holes in the horn components , a small chip on the forend, and overall sharp checkering. Mechanically excellent.

     flourishes of floral scroll engraving at the muzzles and breeches, and 2 3/4 inch chambers with automatic ejectors. The
casehardened, side clipped, scalloped boxlock action displays carved fences, near full coverage floral scroll engraving, “J. P. SAUER & SON” on either side, a gold inlaid pheasant in flight on the left, and a gold inlaid setter on the right. Beautifully figured, multi-point checkered splinter
forend with engraved fitting, Deeley latch release, and ebony tip inlay and straight grip stock with “JHT” marked inscription oval and serrated buttplate. Barrel and stock measurements (R/L):

CONDITION: Very fine, retaining 98% original blue finish on the barrels, traces of case colors in the protected areas with the balance an attractive grey
patina, and mild handling evidence. There is some chipping along the left edge of the forend; otherwise, the revarnished wood is very fine with some small dings and scratches and crisp checkering. The trigger guard has been trimmed, shortened, and refinished and the stock reshaped to a straight grip. The action is off face, otherwise mechanically fine.
