Extremely Rare Engraved and Gold Inlaid Winchester Model 21 Grand American Style 45-70 Double Rifle with Matching .410 Bore Shotgun Barrels and Case - Serial no. 33329, 45-70 Government cal., 26 inch solid rib bbl., blue/gold finish, fancy walnut stock. This is an extremely rare example of a Winchester Model 21 Double Rifle. Not only is it rare to see such a rifle, but this rifle is beautifully decorated in the Grand American style adding to its desirability as well as the already rare to begin with set of .410 bore barrels completing the set. Blued Winchester Proof Steel barrels with ramped beaded blade front sight, four position (three folding, one standing) rear sight marked for 50, 75, 100, and 150 yards, and 3 inch wedges of floral scroll engraving at either breech. The blued action displays near full coverage floral scroll engraving surrounding a of trio beautifully executed gold inlaid big game scenes. The left side shows a bull mouse
standing before a forested scene, the underside shows a big horn ram on a mountain side, and the right shows an elk standing in a forested scene. The trigger guard shows an addition gold inlaid dog’s head bust surrounded by more scroll. The gun features a single selective gold trigger and a tang mounted automatic safety switch. Exceptionally figured, fancy 21-B pattern checkered and carved beavertail forend with engraved fittings and an ebony tip inlay and pistol grip stock with blued and engraved grip cap marked “GRAND/AMERICAN” in gold, blank inscription oval, and engraved blue heel and toe plates with checkered butt.
