Cased Engraved and Gold
Inlaid A.V. Lebeda Single Shot Breech Loading Target Pistol - Serial no. 10144, 9 mm
cal., 9 1/2 inch octagon bbl., blue/gold/ casehardened finish, walnut stock.
   This pistol from Anton Vinzent Lebeda of Prague circa 1880 has an etched Damascus barrel with eight-groove rifling, a dovetailed blade front sight, “A. V. LEBEDA IN PRAG” marked on top, and the matching serial number on the bottom. The standing breech has an adjustable notch rear sight. The barrel is released by pulling the front of the trigger guard back. The spurred trigger guard encloses a single set trigger and has a coronet and coat of arms in relief with a gilt background, and coordinating coronet is on the case lid. The back action lock, frame and furniture has scroll and border engraving and gold inlays. The underside of the action has “LEBEDA/PATENT.” The ornate pommel has a fancy stud. The case comes with a suite of loading and maintenance equipment and a case for cartridges with Lebeda label inside (casings not included). CONDITION: Exceptionally fine overall with 85% plus original finish overall, bright original gold, crisp Damascus patterns, crisp checkering and engraving, and some age and storage related wear mainly in the form of some dings and light scratches on the wood. Mechanically excellent. The case and accessories are all very fine. Estimate: 5,500 - 8,500

Cased Pair of Engraved German Blancke Dueling/Target Percussion Pistols
-A) Blancke Pistol - NSN, 12 mm cal., 10 inch octagon bbl., brown/casehardened finish, hardwood stock. Both pistols are fitted with a dovetailed blade front and notch rear sights. The lock is marked “E. BLANCKE IN NAUMBURG a/s.” around the rear of the hammer. The hammer is decorated in a fish head motif. The top of the Damascus barrel is marked “IN NAUMBURG a/s.” on this example and the other pistol in this lot is marked “E. BLANCKE.” The lock, sideplate, hammer, and barrel tang are engraved with floral scroll designs, and the breech plug is engraved with an arrow and crossed torches. Includes green lined wooden case containing a hammer, nipple tool, oiler, bullet mold and powder flask. CONDITION: Very fine, retains 85% original brown finish with some light flaking at either end of the barrel, 60% original case colors with some areas muted, and crisp engraving. Stock is also very fine as lightly sanded and re-oiled with a professionally repaired crack running beneath the lock and sideplate, some light handling marks, and defined edges. Mechanically excellent. Included case is very good as sanded and refinished with some scattered light handling marks, a chip at one of the corners, and light wear to the lining. B) Blancke Pistol - NSN, 12 mm cal., 10 inch octagon bbl., brown/casehardened finish, hardwood stock. Reference “A” description. CONDITION: Very fine, retains 85% plus original brown finish on the barrel, 60% original case colors with some areas muted, and crisp engraving. Stock is also very fine as lightly sanded and re-oiled with a professionally repaired crack on the right of the forend below the barrel line, some light handling marks, and defined edges. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 7,000 - 11,000
