Reproduction of Mid-16th Century German/Swiss Style Basket Hilted Longsword
- This longsword was made, likely during the Victorian era, in a very similar style to South German and Swiss longswords of the mid-16th century. It has no visible maker’s marks.
The unsharpened blade is approximately 43 inches long with a center fuller that starts at the top of the guard and runs half the length of the blade with two decorative grooves on either side. The wire cupped-basket style guard has serpentine quillions with checkered acorn type finials. The two-handed grip appears to be carved hardwood finished black with a checkered scent stopper pommel. Overall length is approximately 60 inches.
CONDITION: Fine overall, showing mostly an attractive grey antique patina and some light pitting scattered throughout.

   Impressive Embossed Suit of Armor in the 16th Century Style - This example appears to be a completely homogeneous contemporary suit
of armor. The helmet skull is composed of several pieces welded together. The visor has embossed sights with floral scroll designs above them. There is a plume holder. The bevor latches to the skull with a swiveling hook and a post with a piercing. The breastplate is embossed with a mythological face with floral scrolls. The front of the pauldrons are embossed with a bust of a soldier and there
is a strip of embossed floral scroll down the side. The elbow and knee cops are also embossed
with floral scroll designs. Welded finger gauntlets with pointed spikes on the knuckles. The edges are rolled and roped throughout. The tassets have a brass double headed eagle coat of arms. There is a crown over the eagle’s heads and the shield on its chest has a castle in the upper left and lower right. The lower left and upper right have a rampant lion. With a 93 1/2 inch long contemporary halberd. The head screws into a socket on the end of the shaft. Stands almost 9 feet tall with base and halberd.
CONDITION: Very good overall. There are
some scattered scratches and some patches
of discoloration. A very impressive suit with numerous embossed elements, that would be standout in an office or for foyer setting. Provenance: The William Ashby Collection, Property of a Gentleman.

Unique Engraved Jean Paul Cleft Revolving Four-Barrel Flintlock Pistol - NSN, 40 Bore cal., 14 3/8 inch round bbl., bright finish, walnut stock. Jean Paul Cleft was active in Grenoble, France, c. 1650-1700 and made multiple swivel breech firearms designs. This pistol has four
CONDITION: Very good with mostly gray patina on the barrels and lock,
some minor oxidation and pitting, aged patina on the brass furniture, distinct
engraving, loose barrel fit, and moderate overall wear. The stock has some dents and scratches, crisp carving, and minor cracks. Mechanically functions fine, although the barrels are very loosely fitted.

The furniture is brass and also has floral and scroll engraving. The escutcheon has a coronet and coat of arms.
