Oscar Granetti Master Engraved and Gold Inlaid
Piotti Hand Detachable Sidelock Double Barrel Shotgun Two Barrel Set with Case - Serial no. 7516, 12 gauge, 30 inch solid rib bbl., blue/casehardened/ gold finish, walnut stock. Single steel bead sight on the matted flat solid rib which
is marked with a gold inlaid “I” at the breech, barrels marked “ACCIAIO.SIAU.UM6” and
“FLLI.PIOTTI.GARDONE.VT.ITALIA/HAROLD.CHOE.LOS.ANGLES.CALIFORNIA” on the right and left respectively,
single band of engraving at either breech, 1980 dated Italian proofs, and 3 inch chambers with automatic
ejectors. The casehardened hand detachable sidelock action displays near full coverage tight scroll engraving
surrounding floral bouquets scattered throughout as well as gold inlaid “PIOTTI” on the left side. The
engraving extends to the tangs, triggerguard, and toplever which shows a gold inlaid coronet. The triggerplate is
signed “GRANETTI” to the right of the trigger for Italian Master Engraver Oscar Granetti. The gun features bushed firing pins, a single trigger, rolled triggerguard, and
a tang mounted manual safety. Beautifully figured, multi-point checkered beavertail forend with engraved fittings and pistol grip stock with engraved casehardened
grip cap and Pachmayr Old English recoil pad. Includes an extra matching numbered set of 28 inch barrels marked “II” in gold with its own forend, 3 inch chambers,
and interchangeable chokes (modified/improved modified installed). Also included are four extra chokes (improved cylinder, skeet I, light modified, and light full), two
snap caps, and a leather bound takedown case with canvas cover that houses the entire set. Barrel measurements set II (U/O): bore diameter nine inches from the breech
proved 18.5/18.4mm (.728/.724 inches) and measured .733/.734 inches; minimum wall thickness .030/.030 inches. Barrel and stock measurements set I (U/O): bore diameter nine inches from the breech both proved 18.4mm (.724 inches) and measured .729/.728 inches; choke constriction .026/.037 inches; minimum wall thickness .035/.034 inches; 1 1/2 inch drop at comb; 2 inch drop at heel; 14 1/16 inch length of pull; weight 8 lbs. 2 oz.
CONDITION: Excellent, retaining 99% original blue, casehardened, and gold finishes with minor handling evidence. The wood is very fine with scattered tiny scratches, a few pressure marks, and sharp checkering. The case and extra barrel set are excellent. Mechanically excellent.

the toplever, triggerguard, and tangs, the lower of which is marked “Royal”. The triggerplate is signed by the engraver “Abaigar” to the right of the trigger. The gun features bushed firing pins, a rolled triggerguard, double triggers, and tang mounted automatic
safety switch with gold inlaid “S”. Beautifully figured, multi-point checkered forend with engraved fittings and straight grip stock with teardrop flats, blank inscription oval, and checkered wood buttplate. Includes a leather cornered takedown case and original sales receipt and consignor supplied (unverified) cast-on measurements of 9/16 inches at face, 11/16 inches at heel, 13/16 inches at toe, and 5/16 inches at comb. Barrel and stock measurements (R/L): bore diameter nine inches from the breech both proved at 18.5mm (.728 inches) and measured .731/.730 inches; minimum wall thickness .026/.028 inches; 1 1/16 inch drop at comb; 2 1/4 inch drop at heel; 14 11/16 inch length of pull; weight 7 lbs. CONDITION: Excellent, retaining 98% plus original blue and coin finishes with minor handling evidence. The stock shows some light chipping at the rear of the left lock and to the left of the lower tang and triggerguard, otherwise the wood is very fine with minor handling marks and sharp checkering. The case is very good. Mechanically excellent.
