Elaborately Embellished Heinrich Krieghoff Signed Panel Scene Engraved Gold Inlaid Winchester Model 12 Slide Action Shotgun - Serial no. 46, 12 gauge, 30 inch vent rib bbl., blue/coin finish, walnut stock. This Winchester Model 12 features white bead front and middle bead sights on a ventilated rib barrel with “full” marked choke. The receiver features near full coverage masterfully engraved tight scroll work with four panel scenes, two on each side, by Heinrich Krieghoff. Both of the front scenes feature three ducks and both of the rear scenes feature two pointer dogs. Each of the animals in the four scenes are relief gold inlaid. Signed “ENGRAVED BY/HEINRICH KRIEGHOFF” at the head of the loading port. The number “46” is stamped just ahead of the lower tang screw. Mounted to a beautifully figured, multi-point checkered, pistol grip walnut forend and buttstock with engraved blued steel pistol grip cap, initial oval featuring the initials “E.V.O.” and red Winchester recoil pad. CONDITION: Extremely fine as elaborately custom embellished by Heinrich Krieghoff. Retaining 98% plus refinished blue finish on the barrel. The receiver retains crisp engraving and bright gold inlays. Wood is fine with some handling marks, a small hairline crack on the left side of the forearm, and crisp engraving.      LOT 1368 Exhibition Quality Paul Jaeger Signed Engraved and Gold Inlaid Winchester Model 12 Slide Action Shotgun - Serial no. 1825456, 12 gauge, 30 inch vent rib bbl., blue/gold finish, highly figured walnut stock. Manufactured in 1958. Dual white bead sights on the matted vent rib, 2 3/4 inch chamber, barrel threaded for choke tubes, and wedge of beautiful floral scroll engraving extending three inches towards the muzzle on either side of the breech and then wrapping all the way around over the magazine tub. The receiver shows near full coverage in the same style of floral scroll surrounding a pair of gold inlaid game scenes. The left side shows a setter flushing a pair of pheasants in a field scene and the right depicts a trio of mallards taking off from a marsh, both scenes are bordered in a fine gold wire inlay. The gun is signed below the left game scene “PAUL JAEGER, INC. JENKINTOWN. PA.” Beautifully figured, fleur-de-lis checkered forend and pistol grip stock blued grip cap, adjustable comb, and Pachmayr Decelerator recoil pad. Includes a Game Winner hard plastic case. Stock measurements: 1 3/8 inch drop at comb; 2 5/16 inch drop at heel; 13 13/16 inch length of pull; weight 8 lbs. 8 oz. CONDITION: Extremely fine as masterfully embellished by Paul Jaeger, retaining 99% blue and gold finishes with 60% blue on the grip cap and minor handling evidence. There is a small crack coming off the lower tang, otherwise, the wood is very fine with sharp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
