Documented Individual Shipped Colt
New Service Flattop Target Model Double Action Revolver in .45
Long Colt with Factory Letter - Serial no. 307407, 45 LC cal., 7 1/2 inch round bbl.,
blue finish, walnut grips. Manufactured in 1920, this is one of only 3,400 of these
special flattop target New Service Model revolver produced. The included factory
letter confirms the current configuration (grips not listed) as well as it being sold to Jacob
Weinberger and shipment to Rusk Cose, both with addresses unavailable, on 24 May 1923.
Additionally the letter mentions a standard New Service Model revolver with the same
serial number that shipped to Buenos Ares, Argentina in 1922. Also included is a printout
of information relating to a Jacob Weinberger (1882-1974), who was a U.S. federal judge.
It is unclear whether this is the same Jacob Weinberger mentioned in the factory letter,
however the time frame certainly fits. The top of the barrel is marked with the standard
two-line address and patent dates, model and caliber marking on the left of the barrel, and
the Rampant Colt on the left of the frame. It is fitted with the flat top frame, adjustable blade front and notch rear sights, checkered trigger, checkered grip straps, and checkered diamond/fleur-de-lis pattern walnut grips with Colt medallions.
