Walther “ac44” Code K43
Manufactured Semi-Automatic Sniper Rifle with Matching ZF4 Sniper Scope Mount - Serial
no. 8122o, 7.92 mm Mauser cal., 22 inch round bbl., phosphate finish, laminate stock. This is an excellent
example of a mid WWII Nazi K43 semi-automatic rifle as manufactured by the Walther factory that has been fitted
with a ZF4 sniper scope and mount. It has the rough cast type receiver marked on the left side “Eagle/359/K43/ac44” next
to the serial number. It also has the rough cast bolt cover with the hollow cocking knob on the left side with hold open
latch on the right side. It has the late stamped action cover with sliding dust cover. It is fitted with a laminated stock and handguard, with a sheet metal cupped buttplate on the end of the stock. The stock has a single very faint Waffenamt proof on the left side and underside of the butt. The rifle is fitted with a matching number scope mount, with the square ends, that has a single “Eagle/359” Waffenamt proof on the side with a blue “fest” and “lose” marked locking lever. The matching original wartime mount (one of only a few known) is fitted with a mid-war ZF4 marked scope that is marked “Gw ZF4/64215/ K43/ddx”. The scope is complete with the leather and wooden plug lens caps and rubber eye shield with a tinted sun lense. The rifle is complete with one magazine marked “avx/K43” on the left side. Included with this rifle is a blue cleaning rod, a brown cross-hatched leather sling and a spare firing pin inside the butt-trap compartment.
CONDITION: Excellent. 95% of the phosphate finish overall with edge wear with thinning. The stock and handguard are
both very fine overall with light inspectors marks. The scope and mount retain 90% of the original finish with clear optics. Mechanically excellent. One will look a long time to find another example!

LOT 1514
World War II German Mauser K98k High Turret Sniper Rifle with Scope - Serial no. 30623, 7.92 mm Mauser cal., 24
inch round bbl., blue finish, laminate stock. This is a solid representative example of a late World War II German high turret sniper rifle that
was manufactured by the Mauser factory, fitted with a Dialytan 4x “bmj” code sniper scope. The top of the receiver ring is covered by the front turret scope base, reinforced with correct
late war style soldering around the edges. The breech end of the barrel, left of the receiver and left of the rear scope base correctly have a small “Eagle/135” proof from the Mauser factory, with the
receiver side wall marked “MOD 98”. The receiver and barrel are period factory renumbered to match. The rifle has a late war stamped trigger guard and follower with a set of stamped barrel bands both marked with matching partial serial number “0623”. The matching numbered bolt is wearing a correct “flattened” sniper safety. The stamped floorplate is maker marked “byf” with two “eagle/135” marks and the matching serial number. The rifle is fitted with a late war laminated stock numbered “31100” inside the stock channel, and laminated handguard numbered “30623”
underneath to match the rifle, with a checkered steel buttplate. The scope tube is marked “DIALYTAN 4X/bmj” and “69825/+” on the left. The scope has
the correct style sniper elevation knob on top graduated from 100-800 meters. The left of the front scope ring is numbered “36996 i”, and the underside of
the rear scope ring mount is marked with a period overstamped “33996” (likely a factory error with the second digit differing from the front base number).
Includes a brown leather sling and reproduction leather scope caps. Relevant information and similar pictured examples can be found on pages 54-62 of
the book “Backbone of the Wehrmacht Volume II: Sniper Variations of the German K98k Rifle” by Richard D. Law.
CONDITION: Fine, retaining 95% arsenal refurbished blue finish with a few areas of light pitting beneath the finish. Stock is also fine as lightly arsenal sanded
and re-oiled with some light scratches and a few small cracks at the rear of the handguard. Mechanically excellent. Scope is fine with 50% of the original
blue finish remaining and smooth brown patina with some scattered light pitting on the balance, and slightly hazy optics.
Provenance: The Steven Preston Military Collection.
