arge Framed “Young Spotted Eagle” Colorized Print by L.A. Huffman
The visible portion of this print measures approximately 15 x 11 1/2 inches nd features a sitting Native American man who is cited as being named potted Eagle. The writer however believes as some other sources claim, that
his is actually a portrait of Spotted Eagle’s son or nephew, who was named corched Lightning. The print has been nicely colored with water colors and he lower left with marked “YOUNG SPOTTED EAGLE, SIOUX, 1880” while the
ower right has “LAHuffman”, both in black ink. “59” is marked in white ink below the first of the two previously mentioned markings. The frame is lightly
arved with floral motifs and measures approximately 19 3/4 x 16 inches. aton Alton Huffman (1854-1931) was among the few photographers to apture ranching life in Montana in the late 19th century and enlarged many
of his earlier photographs later in his life.
CONDITION: Very fine, with distinct image and vibrant color that shows
