Ornate Silver Mounted,
Gold Inlaid, Engraved, and Raised Relief Carved Flintlock Pistol -
NSN, 58 cal., 7 1/4 inch round bbl., bright/gold/silver finish, walnut stock. This 18th century pistol is signed “Coionet LeLionnoir” on the lock. The smoothbore barrel has gold bands, a silver “spider base” front sight, gold inlaid soldier with a spear/pike, gold floral and scroll patterns
on the breech section, and a “D” on the left side. The lock and tang have classical martial and hunting themed engraving. The silver furniture has floral and scroll patterns with interspersed martial motifs. The stock has fine molding and tear drop flats and raised relief carved floral scroll
patterns at the entry pipe and top of the wrist. Ramrod absent.
CONDITION: Fine with much of the original gold remaining on the barrel, gray and brown patina on the balance, some mild pitting by the vent, mostly light gray patina on the lock along with some minor pitting, dark aged patina on the furniture with small spots of lighter metal showing, and general mild age and storage related wear. The refinished stock is very good
and has attractive grain, distinct carving, a repaired crack in the forend tip, and scattered light dings and scratches. Mechanically fine.

Early 18th Century Engraved Silver Mounted and Inlaid Spanish Miquelet Pistol with Relief Carved
Wood - NSN, 69 cal., 8 1/8 inch part octagon bbl., brown/silver/gold finish, walnut stock. This pistol has the
maker’s mark “JOAN DEOP” on the lock and “crown/EUD./MO/LAS” on the breech end of the barrel. Eudald Molas was a
barrel maker c. 1678-1720, and Joan Deop is recorded in Ripoll c. 1715. The smoothbore “cannon” barrel has silver inlaid floral and bird patterns on top of the octagonal breech section. The lock has some floral engraving and some spots of gold backgrounds. The trigger guard is brass. The remaining furniture is silver and has scroll and floral pattern engraving along with a mask on the pommel. “196” is stamped on the wood at the toe. The stock
has raised relief floral and scroll carving. A ramrod with horn tip is included.
CONDITION: Very good with attractive aged patina and crisp engraving on the silver, mottled brown patina on the balance of the barrel, silver- gray and brown patina on the lock, and mild overall wear, including some dings and dents. The refinished stock is also very good with a spliced section on the forend, mostly distinct carving, light dings and scratches, small chip by the pan, and smooth finish. Mechanically fine. Pair of Silver Inlaid and Engraved Spanish Miquelet Belt Pistols
-A) Spanish Belt Pistol - NSN, 69 cal., 5 1/8 inch part octagon bbl., bright finish, walnut stock. This pair of fine Miquelet pistols have part
octagon, smoothbore barrels with silver inlaid designs on the octagonal
breech sections, “crown/EUD/MAS” maker’s marks at the breech ends. The frizzens
have a “crown/TOR/NTO” maker’s mark recorded as mark 173 in “Spanish Guns and Pistols” by Neal
and noted as for Tornto, possibly from Ripoll c. 1780. Belt hooks are fitted on the left sides. The locks, barrel tangs, and furniture have scroll and floral engraving and
chasing. The trigger guard bows have silver ovals with busts, and the
trigger guard tangs are marked “Z+R” at the tail ends. The pommels also have silver caps, and large silver ovals are inlaid into the wrists. The
second pistol of the pair retains a fabric pad pinned behind the lock. The stocks
have raised relief carving at the ramrod entry pipes and top of the wrists.
CONDITION: Fine with silver-gray patina on the iron, dark aged patina on the silver, aged patina on the brass, mostly
distinct markings and designs, and mild overall wear. Some fo the brass pins are sticking out. The stock retains an old
dark finish, has two holes and one pin from the now absent fabric flap, a tiny hairline crack at the tail of the lock, a small piece between the sideplate and left stirrup, crisp carving, and minor marks and scratches. Mechanically fine.

B) Spanish Belt Pistol - NSN, 69 cal., 5 1/8 inch part octagon bbl., bright finish, walnut stock. See “A.”
CONDITION: Very good with silver-gray patina on the iron components, dark aged patina on the silver, aged patina on the brass, generally legible markings
and patterns, and mild overall wear. The stock retains an old dark finish on the forend section and is more of the usual walnut coloration on the wrist and has some small flakes, a crack in the forend tip/rod channel, distinct carving, and some dings and scratches. Mechanically fine.
