Rare Engraved Westley Richards 12 Bore “Super Magnum Explora”
Double Barrel Boxlock Shot & Ball Gun with Case - Serial no. T7274, 12 gauge, 28 inch bbl., blue/casehardened
   finish, walnut stock. This rare shot & ball gun was manufactured in circa 1920. With blued rifle choked barrels respectively signed “WESTLEY
RICHARDS & CO./LONDON”, each tube engraved with a band of stylized foliage at the breech end and with single extractor. The sunken concave rib
with bead front sight and matted quarter
rib engraved “SUPER MAGNUM EXPLORA”
and with rear express sight of five folding leaf notch sights each with inlaid center line and
graduated to 300 yards. Casehardened treble grip action signed “WESTLEY RICHARDS & CO.” on
each side, with blued toplever, automatic safety with gold inlaid “SAFE”, blued floorplate, casehardened trigger plate and blued trigger guard. The whole finely engraved with classic English scrollwork. The underside of the barrels and water table struck with Birmingham nitro proof and reproof marks. Well figured 14 1/4 inch walnut semi-pistol grip stock with dark horn Westley Richards butt plate, with panels of multi- point checkering to the grip and forearm, the latter with scroll engraved Deeley and Edge fastener and dark horn tip. The underside of the butt with blank silver oval initial escutcheon. Includes a brass cornered oak and
leather case with leather and green baize interior, manufacturer’s trade label, wooden cleaning rod, and Westley Richards silver oil bottle. Barrel measurements (R/L) reproved at 18.7mm/18.7mm (.736 inches), measuring 18.7mm/18.7mm (.736 inches), 70 mm (2 3/4 inch) chambers, minimum wall thickness .035/.030. Weight 7 lbs. 12 oz.
CONDITION: Very good as refurbished. The barrels, action and furniture each retain nearly all of their renewed blued and casehardened finish. The barrels have polishing marks beneath the finish. The deep engraved decoration remains crisp and finely detailed. The stock has been refinished and retains mostly well-defined checkering with some softening and occasional scattered minor
age related storage and handling marks. The case is good with well-worn replacement initial leather, straps absent. Interior has some scattered wear spots and some replaced lining. Label is a quality reproduction. Toplever a little stiff, forearm iron standing slightly proud, otherwise mechanically excellent.

Fine and Rare Panel Game Scene Engraved W.W. Greener
8 Bore “Facile Princeps” Double Barrel “Grade FT30” Non-Ejector
Duck Gun - Serial no. 53524, 8 gauge, 32 inch bbl., blue/casehardened
finish, walnut stock. Made in circa 1904. With blued barrels each engraved with a geometric
design band at the breech end. Raised flat matted rib with bead front sight, signed “W.W. GREENER. MAKER. 68. HAYMARKET. LONDON. WORKS ST. MARY’S SQUARE. BIRMINGHAM.”, and with rib extension. Treble grip
bolstered action signed “W.W. GREENER” on each side, with blued action floor plate, Greener cross bolt and blued toplever. Blued side mounted Greener patent safety catch with inlaid “SAFE” and blued trigger guard engraved “GRADE
FT30”. The whole engraved with fine scrollwork, rosettes and vignettes involving ducks and geese. The underside of the
barrels and the water table with Birmingham nitro proof marks and Greener “Elephant” trademarks. Well figured 14 3/4 inch semi-pistol grip stock including 1 3/4 inch leather wrapped recoil pad, and checkered grip and forearm, the latter with
Deeley & Edge fastener and dark horn tip. The underside of the butt with blank gold oval initial escutcheon. Weight 11 lbs. CONDITION: Very good. The barrels retain 98% reblued finish beginning to turn to plum, the rib signature is sharp as is the decorative band engraved at the breech
ends. Action with a light grey patina, crisp engraving, casehardened finish present to the water table and inside of forearm iron. Trigger guard and action floor plate with nearly all of the reblued finish and crisp engraving. Attractive highly figured stock with well-defined checkering, reoiled, some rubbing to the edges of the leather covered recoil pad. Mechanically excellent.
