wedges of floral scroll engraving with gold inlaid accents, 2 3/4 inch chambers, and choke measured full. The blued receiver displays near full coverage floral scroll engraving with gold accents surrounding a pair of game scenes. The left side shows a setter flushing a pair of pheasant roosters in an upland scene and the right shows a trio of grouse in flight over a field. Both scenes are rendered in beautiful highly detailed semi-relief gold inlays carried out by an unknown, but clearly highly skilled, engraver. The trigger guard is engraved in the same manner with gold inlaid “R/A/R” initials and a gold plated trigger, safety, and slide
release. Highly figured and oak leaf and acorn carved large forend and pistol grip stock with raised cheek piece and ventilated rubber recoil pad. Includes a matching numbered and engraved 26 inch barrel with a skeet choke, a scroll engraved Remington folding knife, cleaning rod, and a Remington takedown case that houses the entire set.
Stock measurements: 1 5/16 inch drop at comb; 2 5/8 inch drop at heel; 13 7/8 inch length of pull; weight 8 lbs. 7 oz.
CONDITION: Very fine as masterfully upgraded, retaining 95% plus blue finish and 99% gold, smooth grey patina on the trigger guard, and slide retraction wear. There is a chip at the rear of the receiver as well as a small crack on the left side, otherwise, the wood is very fine with limited handling evidence and crisp checkering. The case is good and the extra barrel is very fine with some slide retraction wear. Mechanically excellent.
Estimate: 3,000 - 5,500
