  LOT 3035
Winchester Model 1894 Lever Action Saddle Ring Carbine - Serial no. 1023413, 30 WCF cal., 20 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut
stock. Manufactured in 1928, when much of the American west was still relatively untamed, this Model 1894 carbine shows all the typical signs of
being a western working gun. The Model 1894 itself would remain one of the most popular long guns in America through much of the 20th century.
The standard model, trademark, and caliber information is on the left of the barrel, with the Winchester oval proofs on the top of the barrel and receiver at
the breech. The upper tang has the three-line trademark information and the serial number is on the bottom of the receiver. It is fitted with pinned blade front and
folding ladder rear sights, as well as a saddle ring on the left of the receiver. It is mounted with a smooth forearm and straight grip stock with a carbine buttplate.
CONDITION: Fine, retains 70% of the original blue finish, strongest on the barrel and magazine, with some areas of the receiver having thinned to a smooth brown patina, typical of working guns. The wood is also fine showing the typical scattered minor dings associated with use on the plains, but also evidence of being well cared for. Mechanically excellent.
Estimate: 1,800 - 2,750
LOT 3036
Winchester Model 1892
WCF cal., 20 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. The spiritual successor to the Model 1873, the Model 1892 was very popular in the west for the
same reason its ancestor was, its ability to be paired in caliber with a Colt Single Action Army revolver. While packing less power than the Model 1894,
people from all walks of life valued being able to carry and having to resupply only one type of ammunition. Manufactured in 1904, the top of the barrel
is marked with the two-line address/patent date ahead of the rear sight and “38 W.C.F.” at the breech. The upper tang is marked with the three-line model, maker,
and trademark information, and the serial number is marked on the underside of the receiver. It’s fitted with a pinned blade front sight, folding ladder rear sight, saddle
ring on the left, and a peep sight on the upper tang. Mounted with a smooth forearm and straight grip stock with a carbine buttplate. The included Winchester Gun Museum letter confirms the current configuration as well as shipment on 30 September 1904.
CONDITION: Very good, retaining 25% of the original blue finish on the barrel and receiver with the balance having thinned to mostly a smooth grey patina and some scattered patches of light pitting under the blue on the refinished magazine tube. The re-oiled wood is also very good with minimal handling marks, showing the value it had to its original owner, and couple faint hairline age cracks in the forearm. Mechanically excellent.
Estimate: 1,600 - 2,500
