He sold the business in 1918, invested in the Winslow Indian
goods wholesale house of his nephews, and later sold out and
moved to Texas due to his health. He moved back to Gallup, New
Mexico, in 1921, and established a new J. H. McAdams Trading
Company selling millions of dollars of Native American silver
jewelry. When he retired in 1928, he sold the business to
Hubert Richardson.
CONDITION: Very fine with 80% plus period replated silver with
areas of aged patina, distinct engraving, and mild wear. The grips
are also very fine with distinct carving, beautiful iridescent colors,
slight flakes the edges, and minor handling wear. Mechanically
excellent. The attractive holster rig is fine overall with mild wear
and aged patina on the silver.
