Very Fine Winchester Model 1892 Lever Action Saddle Ring Carbine with Factory Letter - Serial no. 257927, 38-40 WCF cal., 20 inch
round bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in 1904. The carbine has a 20-inch round barrel with full-length magazine. The barrel has a block
front sight base fitted with a Lyman “Jack Sight” blade with brass bead and a standard folding leaf rear sight graduated from 200-900 yards. The upper
receiver tang is factory drilled and tapped for a rear sight. The hammer has the second pattern impressed knurling with curved base. A staple-mounted
saddle ring is located on the left side of the receiver. The stock has the standard carbine style buttplate. The barrel is roll-stamped with the third style legend:
“MANUFACTURED BY THE WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO./NEW HAVEN CONN. U.S.A. PATENTED OCTOBER 14. 1884.” located between the lower barrel band and the rear sight.
The caliber designation “38 W.C.F.” is roll-stamped on the top of the barrel between the rear sight and the receiver. The upper receiver tang is roll-stamped with the second style
designation: “MODEL 1892/-WINCHESTER-/TRADE MARK” in three lines. The serial number is roll-stamped across the bottom of the receiver. The
barrel, magazine, barrel bands, receiver, bolt, trigger and buttplate have a blue finish. The loading gate is fire blue. The hammer and loading lever are
casehardened with muted case colors. The stock and forearm are straight grain American walnut with the standard Winchester oil finish. The included
factory letter confirms carbine configuration and caliber. It was received in warehouse on August 3, 1904, and shipped on August 6, 1904.
CONDITION: Very fine. The barrel and magazine have 90% plus of the original blue finish. The barrel legend and caliber designation are crisp. The
upper and lower barrel bands have 90% of the finish with some light scuff marks on the sides of the bands. The receiver retains 85% of the original
blue finish showing light handling wear on the contact points on the bottom and right side and a few scattered scratches. The left side of the receiver
has the typical light scuff marks from contact with the saddle ring. Nearly all of the blue is present on the bolt. The loading gate 90% plus of the fire
blue finish. The buttplate retains 80% of the original blue with some surface rust on the heel. The stock and forearm remain in excellent condition
with close to 95% of the original oil finish; wear is limited to a few scattered storage marks. Mechanically excellent. This is a very fine example of a
highly desirable Winchester Model 1892 saddle ring carbine.

Winchester Deluxe Model 1895 Lever Action Rifle
in Desirable “Teddy Roosevelt Caliber” .405 W.C.F. - Serial
no. 65864, 405 WCF cal., 24 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut stock.
Manufactured in 1909, this is an solid example of a deluxe Winchester Model 1895
rifle in Teddy Roosevelt’s preferred caliber, the legendary .405 W.C.F. The cartridge was the most powerful
cartridge ever offered in a Winchester lever action rifle and suitable for hunting dangerous game in North America,
Africa or Asia. President Teddy Roosevelt used a Winchester Model 1895 rifle chambered for the .405 W.C.F. cartridge
extensively during his famous African safari. The top of the barrel and upper left of the receiver have Winchester factory oval proofs, while the top
of the receiver ring has the standard matted section. The upper left of the barrel has the nickel steel marking, while the caliber marking is at the breech.
The bottom of the barrel is double stamped “405 W.C.F.” and with an oval “VP” over “C.N.S.” The two-line address and patent markings are on the left of the
receiver, partially obscured by the peep sight. The upper tang has the three-line model and trademark, while the serial number is on the lower tang. The stock inlet is
stamped “6933 95”. It is fitted with a ramped German silver blade front sight, a blank filler in the rear sight dovetail, a Lyman peep sight on the left of the receiver, and non-factory
added sling swivels on the bottom of the forearm and buttstock. It is mounted with a very nicely figured, H-pattern checkered, Schnabel tip forearm with an ebony tip insert and a checkered
straight grip stock with a checkered hard rubber shotgun buttplate.
CONDITION: Fine, retains 75% plus of the original blue finish on the receiver and 98% of the refinished blue on the barrel with some mild wear on high spots and from handling/cycling. The Lyman peep sight
shows primarily a grey patina. The wood is very fine with some scattered light dings/scratches and mostly crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. An solid example of a deluxe Model 1895 in Teddy’s caliber!
