Historic Revolutionary War Era “Charleville Pattern” Flintlock Musket with Attractive Curly Maple Stock - NSN, 69 cal., 44 1/2 inch round bbl., brown finish, maple
stock. Assembled during the era of the American Revolution, this is an intriguing example of a variation of the many makeshift muskets pressed into service by the American
Colonial forces attempting to shake off British rule. French muskets and musket parts made up a significant portion of the arms available for the American Patriots during the American Revolution and
remained in wide use into the early 19th century, serving as the pattern for the early U.S. military muskets. This particular example appears to have been primarily built from regulation French components.
The barrel appears to have originally been .69 caliber, now slightly flared at the muzzle, with a bayonet lug on top near the muzzle. A brass blade front sight is fitted to the rear strap of the upper barrel band, and all
three bands are secured with springs as used on the Model 1766. The lock plate is faintly marked “Charleville” and there is an “R” stamped inside the trigger guard. Sling swivels are mounted to the middle barrel band and
front of the trigger guard. The most noticeable feature setting this musket apart from standard French issue is the curly maple stock, which was undoubtedly produced in North America specifically for these parts
and shows the general form of the French M1766 musket. A “K” is hand-carved on the left stock flat.
CONDITION: Very good as restored for historical preservation, showing mostly an antiqued brown patina, some mild pitting and light oxidation. The wood is good with a few period repairs, some more recent
repairs, and some minor cracks and chips. Mechanically functions. An eye-catching Charleville pattern Revolutionary War era musket!
Estimate: 3,000 - 5,000

French & Indian War and American Revolutionary War Era European Flintlock Musket with Cartridge Box - NSN, 75
cal., 41 inch round bbl., bright finish, walnut stock. This musket was manufactured c. 1740-1760, likely in Liege, and may
have been among the arms imported for use by the Continental Army during the American Revolution. Dutch muskets were
widely used during the French & Indian War and American Revolution, and the British and their “Hessian” mercenaries also used
Dutch muskets. A similar musket listed as a “European Infantry Musket Circa 1740-1760” is pictured and discussed on pages 88 and

no sights, a double strap upper barrel band, sling swivels on the middle barrel band and front of the trigger guard bow, “3” on the left at the breech, a
