Fine World War I
U.S. Colt Model
1911 Semi-
Automatic Pistol
with Factory Letter
- Serial no. 264325,
45 ACP cal., 5 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut
grips. Manufactured in late March of 1918, around
seven months before the end of World War I, this
is a very solid example of a World War I U.S. Colt
Model 1911 pistol. The included factory letter
confirms the current configuration, grips not listed,
as well as being part of a 4,100 gun shipment to
Springfield Armory on 4 April 1918. The left side
of the slide has the standard two-line, two-block
patent dates and address, with the Rampant Colt
behind the serrations, while the right side has the
standard “MODEL OF 1911.U.S. ARMY” address. The
U.S. property marking is on the left of the frame
along with the “JMG” inspector’s mark, and the
serial number is on the right. The blued barrel is
marked with a partial “5” on the bottom in front of
the lug and “P/H” on the chamber hood. It is fitted
with blade and flat top notch sights, checkered
slide release, thumb safety, and wide hammer, short
grip safety, long smooth trigger, a pair of diamond
pattern checkered grips, and an unmarked two-tone
magazine.
CONDITION: Fine, retains 60% plus of the original blue finish, some mild handling and holster type wear showing
a smooth grey patina, and a few scattered patches of very light surface pitting. The grips are very fine with a few
scattered minor handling marks and otherwise crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.

behind the firing pin stop, “G.H.D.” (Guy H. Drewry)
inspection and “P” stamps on the left of the frame,
the U.S. property mark, model designation, and serial
number on the right of the frame, along with Colt
factory “T” over “triangle/VP” proofs on the left and
“48” on the right of the trigger guard. Fitted with a checkered slide catch, thumb safety, wide-spur hammer, and
arched mainspring housing, along with a pair of checkered brown plastic grips and a full-blue magazine marked
“S” on the toe. Includes a “U.S.” embossed and “SEARS” marked M1916 brown leather flap holster with leather
lanyard.
CONDITION: Excellent overall, retaining 95% plus original parkerized and blue finishes with some minor holster
pattern edge wear, minor cycling wear, along with crisp markings and grip checkering. Mechanically excellent.
The holster is exceptionally fine with some minor staining and supple leather. Overall a very attractive example of
a mid-World War II production U.S. Colt Model 1911A1 pistol!

Property Marked Colt Model 1903
Pocket Hammerless Semi-Automatic
Pistol - Serial no. 566715, 32 ACP cal.,
3 3/4 inch round bbl., parkerized/blue finish, walnut
grips. Manufactured in 1942, this specific pistol falls in between
several U.S. General Officer issued Model 1903 Pocket Hammerless
pistols (serial numbers 556,710-566,713 and 566,716-566,718)
as listed in the tables on page 133 of “The Colt Pocket Hammerless
Automatic Pistols” by Brunner. Features ramped oval blade front and squared notch
rear sights on top of the slide, with the two-line Colt address and patent dates roll-
marked on the left side of the slide along with a Rampant Colt behind the serrations,
the two-line caliber roll-mark on the right of the slide, a matching serial number
stamped on the underside of the slide, a blued “COLT 32 AUTO” stamped barrel with a
polished chamber hood, the U.S. property marking on the right of the frame, along with
the serial number and U.S. “ordnance wheel” acceptance stamp on the left side of the
frame. The left of the trigger guard is stamped with
“triangle/VP” and “X” Colt factory proofs, along with
“57” on the right side. Fitted with a pair of checkered
walnut grips with silver Colt medallions and a full-
blued magazine. Includes a modern Kraft pattern
shipping box
CONDITION: Excellent plus, as issued, retaining 99%
original parkerized and blue finishes with limited
handling evidence. The grips are excellent with crisp checkering and attractive aged coloration. Mechanically
excellent. Overall an outstanding example of a World War II U.S. property marked Colt Model 1903 Pocket
Hammerless pistol!

parkerized/blue finish, checkered plastic grips. Manufactured
in 1943. Features fixed blade front and notch rear sights, a
blued barrel marked “COLT 45 AUTO” with “P” on the left of
the recoil lug, two-line Colt patent dates and address surround a
Rampant Colt on the left of the slide (correctly without a serial number behind
the firing pin stop, which ceased around serial number “1,138,000”), “P” stamped on
top of the slide, “G.H.D.” (Guy H. Drewry) inspection and “P” stamps on the left of the
frame, the U.S. property mark, model designation, and serial number on the right of
the frame, along with Colt factory “8” over “triangle/VP” proofs on the left and “48” on
the right of the trigger guard. Fitted with a checkered slide catch, thumb safety, wide-
spu, hammer, and arched mainspring housing, along with a pair of checkered brown
plastic grips and a full-blue magazine marked “L” on the toe.
CONDITION: Excellent plus overall, retaining 98% plus original parkerized and 97%
original blue finishes with some minor edge wear, limited minor cycling wear, scratches
around the slide catch, and crisp grip checkering. Mechanically excellent.
