Exceptional U.S. Remington-Rand Inc./Colt
Model 1911A1 National Match Semi-Automatic
Pistol with Original Shipping Box and Invoice - Serial no. 1564993, 45 ACP cal., 5
inch round bbl., parkerized/blue finish, walnut grips. Frame originally manufactured by
Remington Rand Inc. in 1943 and subsequently upgraded to National Match competition-
grade specifications by the U.S Springfield Armory. Fitted with a serrated Patridge blade
front and adjustable “U.S.” marked Triangle notch rear sights, mounted on top of the arsenal replacement
slide with a National Match prefix “NM” part number on the left of the slide and one-line Colt address
on the right side, a blued part number and “N M” marked barrel bushing, an arsenal matched “45 AUTO/
NM7791414/11564993” marked blued barrel, serrated long adjustable trigger and slide catch, along with
checkered front strap, thumb safety, narrow spur hammer, and arched mainspring housing. The frame is
marked with unboxed “FJA” (Frank J. Atwood) inspection initials and “P” on the left slide, with “3” on the left side
of the trigger guard, while the right side is marked with the U.S. property marking, model designation, serial
number, U.S. Springfield Armory “SA” and older U.S. Rock Island Arsenal “RIA” rebuild stamps, and “NM” marked
on the right side of the trigger guard along with “I” and “T”. Fitted with a pair of checkered walnut grips and a
blued magazine marked “L” on the toe. Includes a “PISTOL AUTO C/45 M1911A1-NM W/E/1 EA A 4/65/SPRINGFIELD ARMORY” marked
shipping box with matching serial number written on the side in wax pencil, a reproduction Kraft pattern shipping box, and matching
numbered shipping invoice from the U.S. Erie Army Depot in Port Clinton, Ohio, with a packaging date of “1-25-66”, showing the pistol as
sent as a part of “NRA SALES” to a resident of Portland, Oregon.
CONDITION: Exceptionally fine, retaining 97% plus arsenal parkerized and 98% plus blue finishes with some minor cycling wear, some
limited freckling near the muzzle, a few minor handling marks, and some softened original marking so the frame. The grips are excellent
with crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. The box is very fine.

Marked Colt Model 1908 Pocket Hammerless
Semi-Automatic Pistol with Factory Letter - Serial
no. 135687, 380 ACP cal., 3 3/4 inch round bbl., blue finish,
walnut grips. Manufactured in 1944, with the included factory
letter confirming this pistol’s configuration, including a 3 3/4 inch
barrel in .380 caliber, blue finish, and type of grips not listed, when sold to the
U.S. Government and included in a shipment of 100 pistols of the same type sent to
the U.S. Springfield Armory in Springfield, Massachusetts, on September 28, 1944.
This pistol also falls in between three general officer issued Model 1908 pistols, with
“135683” issued to Brig. Gen. Henry Cothal Evans on September 8, 1944, “135684” issued
to Brig. Gen. Edward Barber in 1945, and “135689” issued to Brig. Gen. William Henry
Harris on December 14, 1954, as shown in the table on page 159 of “The Colt Pocket
Hammerless Automatic Pistols” by John W. Brunner. Features fixed oval blade front and
rounded notch rear sights, a blued “COLT380 AUTO” marked barrel with polished chamber hood, the two-line, two-
block Colt patent dates and address roll-marked on the left of the side with Rampant Colt behind the serrations,
matching “135687” serial number marked on the interior of the slide, the two-line caliber designation roll-marked
on the right of the slide, the serial number on the left side of the frame with the “U.S. PROPERTY” marking on the
right side, along with a U.S. Ordnance punch-dot inspection mark and Colt factory “triangle/VP” proof on the left
side and “13” on the right side of the trigger guard. Fitted with a pair of checkered walnut grips with silver Colt
medallion inserts and a two-tone blued magazine marked CAL.380/COLT” on the base. Includes two extra two-tone
blued magazine marked “Cal.380/Colt” on the bases.
CONDITION: Excellent overall, retaining 97% plus original blue finish with some minor edge and cycling wear,
some minor handling marks, along with crisp roll-marks and grip checkering. Mechanically excellent. Overall a very
attractive example of a World War II era U.S. property marked Colt Model 1908 Pocket Hammerless pistol with a
factory letter!

Semi-Automatic Pistol
- Serial no. 1051947, 45 ACP cal., 5 inch round bbl., Du-Lite
finish, plastic grips. Manufactured in 1943. Fixed sights, with
the left side of the slide marked with the intertwined “USS”
company logo and “U.S. & S. CO./SWISSVALE, PA. U.S.A.”. LTC
Robert Downie’s “RCD” proof is on the left side of the frame, and the right
side has the “UNITED STATES PROPERTY M 1911 A1 U.S. ARMY” mark over the
serial number. Equipped with a thin hammer, stamped trigger, checkered slide
catch, thumb safety and arched mainspring housing, Keyes-Fiber grips, full blue “R”
magazine and a High Standard barrel.
CONDITION: Excellent, with 90% of the original Dulite finish, showing minor takedown
lines on the frame, bright edge wear, minor thinning and spotting on the grip straps
and scattered handling marks. Slide shows mild pitting under front bushing. Grips are
excellent, with mild deformation of the top
left reinforcing ring and a few light dents.
Mechanically excellent.
