U.S. Harrington & Richardson Arms Co. M14 Selective Fire
Battle Rifle in M14E2 Configuration with ART II Scope, Class III/
NFA C&R Fully Transferable Machine Gun - Serial no. 1008712,
7.62x51mm NATO (308) cal., 22 inch round bbl., parkerized finish,
birch stock. Manufactured under contract for the U.S. Government by
the Harrington & Richardson Arms Company c. 1962-1963. Developed
c. late 1940s to early 1950s and based in part off the M1 Garand rifle
design as a select fire battle rifle intended to replace not only the
M1 rifle, but the roles of the carbine, sub machine gun, and squad
light machine gun as well, the M14 was adopted as the official U.S.
service rifle in 1957 before being de-titled by the lighter and more
controllable M16 less than a decade later. Features fixed winged blade
front and adjustable peep rear sights, a bayonet lug on the flash hider,
a “HR” marked and “7 62” dated barrel, “HRT A06/LT” marked bolt,
the three-line U.S. property mark, caliber/model designations, and
manufacturer name marked on the heel of the re-welded receiver,
“HRA” marked operating rod, and a “-H-RN” trigger housing with “-HR-
N” hammer, “HR” marked safety, and “K/M/T/Co.” marked stamped
trigger guard. Topped off with a Leatherwood ART II 3-9x scope (serial number “3276”) on a two point thumb screw mount
(note: the clip guide adaptor is absent from the receiver, and the scope currently attaches at one point only). Fitted with
ported compensator attachment on the flash hider, a brown fiberglass handguard, and a M14E2 pattern hardwood stock with
folding polymer vertical grip support on the forend, integrated pistol grip, and folding shoulder rest on the rubber buttpad.
An extra stock in standard profile is included.
CONDITION: Very fine as professionally restored, retaining 97% plus parkerized finish with minor handling wear, some light
cycling wear, and clear original receiver heel markings. The stock is excellent with a few minor handling marks. Mechanically
excellent. The scope is very fine with clear optics and a crooked reticle. NOTE: This weapon is a National Firearms Act (NFA),
fully transferable Class 3, which is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) that is
classified as a “Curios or Relic” as defined in 27 CFR, 478.11. These weapons are still subject to the provisions of 18 U.S.C.
Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 479.
