Outstanding Factory Tschinkowitz Signed, Gold Inlaid, and
Exhibition Relief Game Scene Engraved Blazer SR 850/88 Bolt
Action Rifle with Two Extra Barrels, Zeiss Scopes, and Case - Serial
no. 2/12387, 300 Win magnum cal., 26 7/16 inch round bbl., blue/coin/
gold finish, walnut stock. Built with a blued barrel featuring a blade
fore sight on an oak leaf engraved and matted island base, fixed notch
engraved island rear sight, 1991 dated German proof marks, factory
markings and import mark at the breech, and a set of swing scope
mounts holding a Zeiss Diavari ZM 2.5-10x48 mm scope. The breech
is engraved with attractive oak leaf designs bordered by gold inlaid
scrolling line work. The barrel is fitted to the coin finished action which
shows off gorgeous relief cut game scenes on either side encompassed
by broad leaf scroll and a bust of a cougar on the underside before
extending to the blued bolt shroud. The game scenes depict a herd of
mountain goats in a high alpine scene on the right side and a pair of
cowboys fleeing from a grizzly on the left, both cut in stunning detail by
Master Engraver Val Tschinkowitz who has signed “Tschinkowitz” beneath the
left scene. The rifle is fitted with a wonderfully well-figured and oak leaf caved
and checkered
Schnabel tip forend with front sling swivel as well as a pistol grip stock with
ebony grip cap with a bugling elk on the brass insert, Bavarian style cheekpiece,
rear sling swivel, and a factory recoil pad. While no documentation is present,
this rifle was previously sold as having been made as an exhibition gun for the
1992 IWA Show. Includes a second matching engraved and gold inlaid 24 13/16
inch barrel chambered in 7 mm Remington Magnum and fitted with its own Zeiss Diavari-Z 1.5-6x42 mm scope
as well as a second non-engraved dangerous game 26 7/16 in barrel in .375 H&H Magnum. Also includes a fitted
Americase that houses the entire set.
CONDITION: Excellent overall, retaining 99% original blue, gold, and coin finishes with minor handling evidence and
sharp checkering on the stock and forend. Mechanically excellent. The extra barrels are also excellent with some
wear at the .375 H&H breech. The scope optics are sharp. An excellent opportunity to own a masterfully built and
engraver rifle that is ready for anything!
Provenance: The Collection of Jim Box.
Estimate: 15,000 - 25,000
