Excellent Smith & Wesson Model 16 K-32 Masterpiece Double Action Revolver with Rare 4 Inch
Barrel, Box, and Factory Letter - Serial no. K366587, 32 S&W Long cal., 4 inch solid rib bbl., blue finish,
walnut grips. Manufactured in 1959 on the 4-screw frame, this is an excellent example of a Smith & Wesson
Model 16 K-32 Masterpiece revolver with the rare and desirable 4 inch barrel. It is noted in the factory
letter and in “Standard Catalogue of Smith & Wesson” by Supica and Nahas that only 3,630 total K-32
Masterpiece revolvers were produced, the rarest of the K-Masterpiece series, with far fewer having the 4
inch barrel like this example. As far as it is known to serious collectors over the past 40 years, only 25 of the
4” barrel K-32’s were built on the 4-screw frame, making them one of the scarcest and most sought after
Smith & Wesson’s to be found. The included factory letter lists the revolver with a 4 inch barrel, red ramp
front sight, bright blue finish, and that it was made special for Glover Hardware Co. in Rayville, Louisiana
when it was shipped to Orgill Brothers Co. in Jackson, Mississippi on 15 December 1954. An included copy
of an email from Roy Jinks clarifies that the 1954 shipping year was a notation error on his part and that
the revolver actually shipped in 1959. The left side of the barrel has the Smith & Wesson marking, while
the right has the caliber marking. The right side of the frame has the trademark and four-line address.
The matching serial number is on the butt, rear face of the cylinder, frame under the crane, bottom of the
barrel, and stamped inside the right grip panel. The inside of both grip panels is hand marked in pencil
“K32 -4 SCREW”. It is fitted with a ramped blade front sight with red insert, an adjustable notch rear sight,
and a pair of checkered walnut magna grips with “S&W” monogram medallion grips. Includes the original
factory box, with the barrel length on the end factory changed to “4” by hand, indicating
the rarity of this short barrel variation.
CONDITION: Excellent, retains 97% of the original bright blue finish and 95% plus of the vibrant original
case colors on the hammer and trigger with some very light edge/muzzle wear and a cylinder turn line.
The grips are also excellent with a few very light handling marks and crisp checkering. Mechanically
excellent. The box is very good with some tape residue and mild edge/corner wear. A fantastic example of
a rare 4-screw, 4 inch barrel, Smith & Wesson Model 16 K-32 Masterpiece revolver,
a fantastic addition to any collection!
Provenance: The Michael Priwer Collection.

Smith & Wesson
Model 19-2 “Combat
Magnum” Double Action Revolver with Desirable “Pinto” Finish, 3 Inch Barrel, Box, and Factory Letter - Serial
no. K622501, 357 Magnum cal., 3 inch solid rib bbl., blue/nickel finish, hardwood grips. Manufactured in 1966, this is
a scarce, likely one-of-a-kind, special ordered Smith & Wesson Model 19-2 “Combat Magnum” revolver that was built
for presentation to famed Smith & Wesson historian Roy Jinks. In the included factory letter, Roy Jinks notes that the
round butt frame of this revolver was part of an overrun of 75 round butt Model 19 frames that were leftover after the
completion of a U.S. Navy contract in June of 1965. The majority of these frames were then fitted with 2 1/2 inch barrels
and sent to key Smith & Wesson distributors to be used as samples. The U.S. Secret Service expressed interest in the
Model 19, and in August of 1965 Smith & Wesson produced ten 3 inch barrels for the model, assembling two samples,
and shipping them to the service for evaluation compared to the 2 1/2 inch versions. The remaining eight 3 inch barrels
remained held in inventory during evaluation, at the end of which the Secret Service chose the 2 1/2 inch version. Jinks
goes on to note that in January of 1966, Ken Williams, a factory representative in Columbus, Ohio requested that Smith
& Wesson assemble a special Model 19 for presentation to Jinks himself. This revolver was assembled from one of the
U.S. Navy overrun frames, and one of the 3 inch U.S. Secret Service barrels, as well as receiving a “pinto” or two-tone
nickel and blue finish. He goes on to state that the revolver also featured a smooth combat trigger and special thinned
trigger guard, which was later used by Jinks in his designing of the Texas Rangers Commemorative revolver. The barrel
of the revolver has the Smith & Wesson marking on the left and the caliber marking on the right. The right of the frame
has the trademark and four-line address. The serial number is on the butt and the model marking is on the frame under
the crane. It is fitted with a ramped blade front sight, an adjustable notch rear sight, and a pair of smooth hardwood
grips with “S&W” monogram medallions. The barrel and cylinder are nickel plated while the frame is finished in blue.
Includes two extra sets of hardwood grips and the original box.
CONDITION: Excellent, retains 98% plus of the original nickel and blue finishes and 90% plus of the original case colors
on the hammer and trigger with some very light handling marks and a light cylinder turn line. The grips are excellent
with only the slightest handling marks. Mechanically excellent. The box is excellent with only the slightest handling/
storage evidence. The is a very attractive and quite possibly one-of-a-kind Smith & Wesson
Model 19-2 Combat Magnum revolver!
