Winchester Model 1894 Lever Action Rifle with Rare Mounted Telescopic Sight - Serial no. 104701, 25-35 WCF cal., 26 inch octagon bbl., blue finish,
walnut stock. Manufactured in 1896. The rifle has a full octagon barrel and full-length magazine. The barrel has a sporting style front sight with nickel-silver
blade and a special order “Winchester Express” three leaf rear sight with platinum sight lines. The rifle has a blued barrel, magazine, forearm cap and receiver.
The hammer, lever, trigger and crescent buttplate have a color casehardened finish. The stock and forearm are straight grain American walnut The rifle is fitted with
a straight tube telescopic sight with cross-hair reticle in an off-set mount attached to the top of the barrel and right side of the receiver. The off-set mount enables the ejection port to function
properly and permits quick use of the barrel mounted rear sight. The telescopic sight has an un-marked, 3/4-inch diameter steel tube with no provision for external sight adjustment. The scope is low (2x-3x)
power. The sight is attached to the right side of the receiver by a sliding bar with large knurled set screw and a dovetail mounted base/ring combination on the barrel ahead of the rear sight. The receiver set screw
permits rough elevation adjustments. The top barrel flat is roll-stamped with the two-line legend: “MANUFACTURED BY THE/WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. NEW HAVEN CONN. U.S.A.” ahead of the rear sight (the “CONN”
cut through for scope dovetail). “NICKEL STEEL BARREL/ESPECIALLY FOR SMOKELESS POWDER” is roll-stamped in two lines on the left side of the barrel behind the rear sight. The caliber “25-35 W.C.F.” is stamped on the top barrel
flat between the rear sight and the receiver. The upper tang is roll-stamped: “MODEL 1894/-WINCHESTER-/PAT. AUG. 21. 1884” in three lines. The serial number is roll-stamped across the bottom of the receiver. The telescopic sight is
professionally mounted and appears to be contemporary to the rifle. Nineteenth century Winchester lever action rifles with telescopic sights are extremely rare and collectible.
CONDITION: Very fine. The barrel, magazine, forearm cap and receiver retain 85% plus of the original blue finish. The hammer, lever and crescent buttplate have strong original case colors. The barrel and receiver markings are sharp.
The stock and forearm are very fine with most of the original and a few minor handling marks. Mechanically excellent. The telescopic sight has a silver-blue finish. The optics are very good. Mechanically excellent. This is a desirable
example of a Winchester Model 1894 Rifle with rarely encountered telescopic sight.

LOT 1003
Exceptional Antique Winchester Deluxe Model 1886 Lever
Action Rifle - Serial no. 48101, 38-56 WCF cal., 26 inch octagon
bbl., blue/casehardened finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in 1890, this is an
exceptionally fine example of a deluxe Winchester Model 1886 rifle in .38-56 W.C.F.
The Model 1886 was John Browning’s first lever action design for Winchester and it quickly gained popularity,
particularly in the American West, for its firepower and rugged dependability. These early ‘86s, even in deluxe configuration
like this one, often saw decades of use on the frontier both for hunting and personal defense, leaving few examples in high
condition like this one. Demand for the Model 1886 chambered in .38-56 W.C.F. was relatively low at the time, leading to fewer remaining in high condition and high desirability
among collectors. This example has the highly attractive casehardened receiver, which was standard on the model until around 1901. The top barrel flat is marked with the standard two-line address
and the caliber marking at the breech. The upper tang has the model marking, while the lower tang has the two-line patent dates and the serial number. The left side of the lower tang is marked with
the assembly number “70 XX”, with “70” repeated in the stock inlet and inside the buttplate. It is fitted with a No. 21 German silver blade front sight and an elevation adjustable No. 24 notch rear sight. It
is mounted with a highly figured, H-pattern checkered forearm and pistol grip stock with an ebony insert at the base of the grip and a crescent buttplate.
CONDITION: Exceptionally fine, retains 80% plus of the original blue finish, 75% of the vibrant case colors, most concentrated on the receiver, and 95% plus of the nitre blue on the loading gate with the
balance having thinned to mostly a smooth grey patina and a few scattered patches of very light surface freckling. The wood is very fine with some scattered light dings/scratches and crisp checkering.
Mechanically excellent. An exceptionally fine example of a deluxe configured Winchester Model 1886 rifle!
