Colt M16A1 Selective Fire Rifle,
Nine Million Serial Range, Class III/
NFA Fully Transferable Machine Gun - Serial no.
9288022, 5.56 mm cal., 14 1/2 inch round bbl., matte gray
phosphate finish, metal stock. Manufactured in the 1970s and
1980s, the “9 million” serial range M16s were made to the same
quality and specifications as Colt’s domestic government
contracts, but intended for commercial or export sale. Features
winged post front sight, A1-style flash hider on the “C MP B”
marked barrel, bayonet lug, ribbed round handguard, and a “C H”
marked upper receiver with two-leaf windage adjustable rear sight, fixed
carry handle, short casing deflector and oval forward assist. The lower
receiver has the standard markings on the left side, with a right handed
“SAFE/SEMI/AUTO” marked selector, A1 pattern pistol grip, and a two-
position telescoping buttstock. The bolt head and carrier are matte black
finished, the former marked “MPC” and the latter marked “C” and serrated
for the forward assist, with a one-piece buffer, “7” and “C” marked hammer,
and proper safe/semi/full internals. Includes a small soft transport case,
bayonet, sheath, extra magazine and an 11 1/2 inch long extra barrel.
CONDITION: Excellent, with 98% plus original matte gray phosphate finish,
showing minor handling marks overall and a small amount of spotting.
Mechanically excellent. The bayonet has been sharpened. NOTE: This
weapon is a National Firearms Act (NFA), fully transferable Class 3, which
is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives,
(BATFE) under the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 479.
