The barrels of each gun are fitted to a highly attractive casehardened sidelock action
which displays gorgeous near full coverage scroll engraving in the Boroque revival
style made famous by the engravers of Brescia with interspersed with floral bouquets
with flowing ribbons and surrounding an “ARMI FABBRI BRESCIA” banner on the
underside mixture of nitre blued and bright finished pins and bolts on the lockplates.
The engraving flows effortlessly off of the action and cascades onto the toplever
which is inlaid with a gold “1” or “2”, the trigger guard, and both the upper and lower
tangs. The engraving is signed “F.IORA INC” on both guns to the right of the trigger
on the triggerplates for world renowned Italian Master Engraver Ferruccio Iora, one of
the finest engravers of the 20th century. Each gun in the set features a single trigger,
intercepting sears, bright cocking indicators on either lockplate, and a tang mounted
automatic safety.
Each gun is fitted with an absolutely stunning, highly figured and fancy multi-point
checkered English style forend with matching engraved and blued iron as well as a
pushrod style release which is inlaid with a gold “1” or “2”. The guns are also fitted with
an equally breathtaking straight hand stock with teardrop carved drop points and a
checkered bare butt.
Included is a brown leather flat case with canvas cover, lined in red baize containing a
pair of leather wrapped recoil pads and a pair of leather case straps.
Barrel and stock measurements (U/O): bore diameter nine inches from the breech
both measured at 16.0 mm (.630 inches) and measured .634/.633 inches; choke
constriction .012/.025 inches; minimum wall thickness .027/.028 inches; 1 1/4 inch
drop at comb; 2 3/8 inch drop at heel; 15 1/8 inch length of pull; weight 6 lbs. 6 oz.
CONDITION: Excellent overall, retaining 99% plus original blue and casehardened
finishes, slight plum hue to the bluing, minimal handling evidence, and sharp
checkering on the stock and forend. Mechanically excellent. The case is also excellent.
B) Ivo Fabbri Sidelock Shotgun - Serial no. 3098, 20 gauge, 27 1/2 inch vent rib
bbl., blue/casehardened finish, walnut stock. As described in “A”. Barrel and stock
measurements (U/O): bore diameter nine inches from the breech both measured at
16.0 mm (.630 inches) and measured .632/.634 inches; choke constriction .016/.026
inches; minimum wall thickness .030/.025 inches; 1 1/4 inch drop at comb; 2 5/16 inch
drop at heel; 15 1/8 inch length of pull; weight 6 lbs. 4 oz.
CONDITION: Excellent overall, retaining 98% original blue finish with a plum/brown
hue, slight rubs at the muzzle, 99% original highly attractive case colors on the action,
minor handling evidence, and sharp checkering on the stock and forend. Mechanically
excellent. Do not let this chance to own a fine pair from one of the finest makers in the
world, engraved by one of the 20th century’s top engravers, Feruccio Iora!
