Cased Pair of Engraved German Blancke Dueling/ Target Percussion Pistols -A) Blancke Pistol -
NSN, 12 mm cal., 10 inch octagon bbl., brown/ casehardened finish, hardwood stock. Both pistols
are fitted with dovetailed blade front and notch
rear sights. The casehardened locks are signed “E. BLANCKE IN NAUMBURG a/s.” around the rear of the hammers. The hammers are decorated with a finely engraved fish head motif. The top flat of the swamped Damascus barrels is marked “E. BLANCKE.” on one pistol and “IN NAUMBURG a/s.” on the other. The locks, sideplates, hammers, and barrel tangs are engraved with floral scroll designs, and the breech plugs are engraved with an arrow and crossed torches. Includes green lined wooden case containing a hammer, nipple tool, oiler, bullet mold, and powder flask. CONDITION: Very fine, retains 85% original brown finish with some light flaking at either end of the barrel, 60% original case colors with some areas muted, and crisp engraving. Stock is also very fine
as lightly sanded and re-oiled with a professionally
repaired crack running beneath the lock and sideplate, some light handling marks, and defined edges.
Mechanically excellent. Included case is very good as sanded and refinished with some scattered light handling marks, a chip at one of the corners, and light wear to the lining.
B) Blancke Pistol - NSN, 12 mm cal., 10 inch octagon bbl., brown/casehardened finish, hardwood stock. Reference “A” description.
CONDITION: Very fine, retains 85% plus original brown finish on the barrel, 60% original case colors with some areas muted, and crisp engraving. Stock is also very fine as lightly sanded and re-oiled with a professionally repaired crack on the right of the forend below the barrel line, some light handling marks, and defined edges. Mechanically excellent.

Very Fine Pair of Gold Banded Engraved Percussion Target
Pistols -A) Target Pistol - NSN, 9.5 mm cal., 9
inch octagon bbl., brown/gold/silver/gray/German silver finish, walnut stock. This very attractive pair of c. 1860 Germanic percussion target pistols have eight-groove rifling, pairs of gold bands at the muzzles and breeches,
“GUSS STAHL LAUF” in silver inlay across the upper flats at the breech, dovetailed German silver blade front sights, screw adjustable rear sights on the standing breeches, rotating hammer stalls on the locks, adjustable single set triggers, German
silver furniture including the spurred trigger guards, dark horn Schnabel tips on the stocks, and fluted butts. They are engraved with mainly
scroll and floral patterns along with bestial designs on the hammers and scenes of a woman firing a pistol in a pastoral scene on the lock of the first
pistol and a coordinating scene of her firing a shotgun on the second pistol. The underside of the breech plugs have “G.&W.P.” while the underside of
the barrels have “L.P. & Co.” and a rampant lion stamp in an oval.
CONDITION: Very fine with 85% plus of the original brown finish on the barrel, bright gold bands, aged patina on the silver, small patches of mild pitting, gray patina
on the lock and standing breech, aged patina on the furniture, distinct engraving, and minor overall wear. The stock is also very fine and has smooth finish, light scratches and handling marks, and some scrapes on the left flat. Mechanically fine. B) Target Pistol - NSN, 9.5 mm cal., 9 inch octagon bbl., brown/gold/silver/gray/German silver finish, walnut stock. See “A.”
CONDITION: Very fine with 80% plus of the original brown finish, bright gold bands, dark aged patina on the silver, silver-gray patina on the lock and standing breech, crisp engraving, light aged patina on the German silver furniture, and mostly minor age and storage related wear including some minor spots of oxidation. The stock is also very fine and has smooth finish and light handling and storage type marks. Mechanically excellent.
