CONDITION: Excellent, retaining 99% original blue and coin finishes with minor handling evidence and tarnished grip cap and inscription oval. The fine wood shows a few dings and scratches, some chipping along the left of the stock head, a small crack off the upper tang, and overall crisp checkering. The scope optics are clear. The case is fine. Mechanically excellent.

Sommer Sidelock Over/Under Multi-Caliber Double Rifle with Swarovski Scope - Serial no. 24790, 6.5x65R/9.3x74R cal., 23 9/16 inch solid rib bbl., blue/coin finish, walnut stock. Blued steel barrels with an engraved ramped blade front sight, fixed rear sight and German claw mounts fitted with engraved rings holding a Swarovski Habicht 3-9x36mm scope on the engraved rear quarter rib, 2002 dated Austrian proofs, and chambers
with ejectors. The coin finished sidelock action displays outstanding beautifully executed deep relief game scenes surrounded by extensive floral scrollwork and a pierced toplever in the form of a running ram. The left lockplate shows a roaring red stag with his harem of three hinds in a forested scene, the right shows a group of wild boars running through the forest, the underside has a standing roe buck, the grip cap shows a
mouflon ram, and the cartridge trap is endowed with a bust of a chamois. The engraving is a great representation of the range of European game that could be taken with this single rifle. The engraving is signed “RUNTAS” on the left beneath the stag for Austrian engraver Jurgen Runtas. The rifle features dual single set triggers and a tang mounted safety switch. Beautifully figured, multi-point checkered Schnabel forend with engraved fittings and a pistol grip stock with raised cheekpiece, rear
sling swivel, the aforementioned engraved grip cap and cartridge trap, and a rubber recoil pad. Included is a second rifle scope which appears to be set up for a Mauser action rifle. Length of pull 14 5/8 inches. Weight 8 lbs. 9 oz.
CONDITION: Excellent overall, retaining 99% original blue and 97% original coin finishes with a small spot of oxidation on the right lockplate, minor handling evidence, and sharp checkering on the stock and forend. The installed scope has sharp optics. The second scope is slightly hazy. Mechanically excellent.
