 LOT 702
Scarce Desirable Documented Pilot Production Prototype Serial Number “11.00.1007” Mauser Parabellum 29/70
Luger Semi-Automatic Pistol with Box - Serial no. 11.00.1007, 9 mm cal., 4 inch round bbl., blue/straw finish, walnut grips. Manufactured in 1970, the Mauser “Pilot Production Prototype” Parabellum 29/70 Luger pistol serial number range started at “11.00.1001,” making this the seventh pistol made in that per-production run. These early prototypes and production Parabellum
29/70 pistols were modeled largely off of the
Swiss Ordonnanzpistolen 06/29 W+F, rather than
the P.08 like the later Parabellum 06/73 pistols
emulated. This specific pistol has appeared in several different
publications, including on page 131 of John Walter’s “Luger.”
Features fixed blade front and notch rear sights. The barrel is
marked “9mm Paraord..38Luger” (which the collector’s notes indicate as
a factory error), along with standard markings on the extension and frame. With original
box, plastic display stand, takedown tool, cleaning rod, an issue of “Automatic Magazine” which features the pistol, and the collector’s notes. There are few Mauser Parabellum 29/70 pistols that are as well documented as this.
CONDITION: Excellent overall, retaining 97% plus original blue and straw finish with some fading on the ejector and crisp grip checkering. The box is very fine with split seams. Mechanically excellent.
Provenance: The Klaus Meyer Collection.
Estimate: 3,000 - 4,500
