Pair of Colt Third Model “Thuer” Derringers with Extremely Rare Factory Picture Box
-A) Colt Third Model “Thuer” Derringer -
Serial no. 10398, 41 RF cal., 2 1/2 inch round bbl., nickel finish, walnut grips. These derringers were introduced in 1870, with this example being early production with the high profile hammer. The top of the barrel has a rounded blade front sight and “COLT” in large italic letters. The matching serial number is marked on the left of the grip frame, bottom of the barrel, and inside both grip panels in ink. Includes an extremely rare original Colt factory box that is fitted for two
Third Model Derringers.
CONDITION: Extremely fine, retains 95% of the original nickel finish with light wear/flaking, most noticeably at the top of the back strap and high spots of the frame showing an attractively aged brass. The grips are fine with a minor chip absent from the bottom of the left panel and some minor handling marks. The box is very fine with some mild handling/storage wear.
B) Colt Third Model “Thuer” Derringer -
Serial no. 10692, 41 RF cal., 2 1/2 inch round bbl., nickel finish, walnut grips. These derringers were introduced in 1870, with this example being early production with the high profile hammer. The top of the barrel has a rounded blade front sight and “COLT” in large italic letters. The matching serial number is marked on the left of the grip frame, bottom of the barrel, and inside both
grip panels in ink.
CONDITION: Excellent, retains 95% plus of the original nickel finish with some scattered light flaking and a patch of light pitting on the right
of the barrel. The grips are very fine with some light handling marks scattered throughout. Mechanically excellent.
