Attractive Silver Plated Factory Engraved National Arms Company No. 2
Derringer - Serial no. 3613, 41 RF cal., 2 1/2 inch flat top round bbl., silver finish, walnut
grips. Manufactured circa 1865 to 1870 with total production of an estimated 12,000
before being purchased by Colt in 1870. The top of the barrel has the one line address with the
serial number on the underside. The assembly number “AI13” is stamped on the left of the grip
frame under the grip and on the inside of both grip panels. It has the standard scroll engraving, checkered walnut grips, and a very attractive full silver plated finish.
CONDITION: Exceptionally fine, retains 95% plus of the original silver finish, which shows an attractively aged patina overall, and some light wear on high spots showing a mellow brass. The grips are very fine with some mild high spot wear and mostly well-defined checkering. Mechanically excellent. Provenance: The John Battaglia Collection; The George S. Lewis Jr. Collection.

Outstanding London Agency Cased Colt Third Model “Thuer” Derringer - Serial no. 39190, 41 RF cal., 2 1/2 inch round bbl., nickel finish, smooth grips. Introduced in 1870, these Third Model “Thuer” derringers were the third iteration of Colt’s single shot pocket pistol. This example is a later production model with the sloping hammer and more moderate curve to the grip profile. The top of the barrel is marked “COLT” in italics, and “41 CAL” is marked on the left of the frame. The matching serial number is marked on the left of the grip frame, on the bottom of the barrel (“190”), and in pencil/ink on the inside of each grip panel. It is fitted with a blade front sight and a pair of smooth grips. The included case is
a brown leather wrapped cigar style case with royal blue lined interior and gilt Colt London Agency marking on the lid lining.
CONDITION: Excellent, retains 98% plus of the original nickel finish and 75% plus of the original nitre blue on small parts with a few scattered light handling marks. The grips are also excellent with a few scattered light scratches. Mechanically excellent. The case is very fine with some light wear, mostly on edges and corners.
