Rare Early Mauser Banner Model 1906/34 Swiss Contract Luger Semi-Automatic Pistol with Holster - Serial no. 1883V, 7.65 mm Luger Auto cal., 4 3/4 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut grips. This is a rare early Swiss contract Luger manufactured by the newly renamed Mauser factory in the early 1930s. These 1906/34 Mauser banner commercial contract Luger pistols were for sale inside Germany, also for foreign contracts and were made up of a combination of left over DWM factory parts along with newly manufactured Mauser parts. These Swiss contract Lugers can be found with both a blank chamber or with the “Swiss Cross in a Sunburst” as seen on this example. The serial number range for this model is between 1275v-1920v with a reported total production quantity of only about 645. This example has the short style barrel extension with the 1906 frame with coil spring and grip safety, fast taper barrel, first pattern polished lower safety area and no stock lug. It has the standard “Mauser Banner” on the front toggle, with “(crown)/(crown)/U” commercial proofmarks on the barrel extension and breech block. The matching serial number is located on the front of the frame and underside of the barrel, with the last two digits of the serial number stamped on the various components besides the unnumbered checkered walnut grips, front toggle, firing pin and magazine. This rare Swiss contract Luger is complete with one magazine that has a nickel finished aluminum body with an unmarked walnut base. Also included is a Swiss pattern brown leather flap holster with shoulder strap, with a Bern leatherworker’s mark on the rear and a faint hand written name inside the flap. CONDITION: Very fine, retaining 75% original blue finish on frame and barrel extension with some areas of artificial gray patina visible on the grip straps, arsenal refinish on replacement barrel, and sharp markings and edges in the metal overall. 95% arsenal refurbished straw colors visible on the small parts. Grips are very fine with a few minor handling marks and crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. Included leather holster is fine with very light edge wear. Estimate: 6,000 - 9,000 LOT 1516 Rare World War II “42” Dated Swedish Contract Mauser Banner Commercial Luger Semi-Automatic Pistol Chambered in 7.65mm Luger with Holster and Two Factory Matching Magazines - Serial no. 7721w, 7.65 mm Luger Auto cal., 3 7/8 inch round bbl., blue finish,
walnut grips. This is a mid-WWII production Commercial Mauser Banner P.08 Luger pistol chambered in 7. 65 mm Luger. These Lugers that fall into the 6000-8000w serial number range were all commercial contract pistols, with this one being sold to Sweden as a commercial Luger. All these late commercial contract Lugers usually exhibit excellent workmanship with a high quality all salt blue finish and walnut grips. The chamber is stamped “42” for 1942, the last year of Luger production by the Mauser factory. The front toggle has the standard Mauser Banner with the left side of the barrel extension, and breechblock having a “Eagle/N” commercial proof acceptance mark with no other proofs on the pistol. The pistol is numbered in the military fashion with the full serial number stamped on the front of the frame only, with serial number (7721) stamped left side of the barrel extension and underside of the barrel. The last two digits (21) are stamped on all the various small parts. It is complete with two unmarked blue matching magazines. The pinned aluminum bases are both factory matching, each stamped “7721”. This rare Luger pistol is complete with an unmarked Swedish contract leather holster. CONDITION: Excellent with 95% plus of the blue finish overall. Some edge and high spot wear and spotting on right side of the barrel extension. The right frame rail has a three inch long deep casting flaw present. The various small parts retain 97% of their original straw colors. The grips are also excellent with nice distinct checkering overall. Mechanically excellent. The holster is also excellent with nice tight stitching and a nice slightly darker brown color overall.
