Manufactured in 1896, per the information on page 120 of Nigel Brown’s “British Gunmakers Volume Two: Birmingham, Scotland, and the Regions”. Browned Damascus steel barrels with a single bead sight on the smooth solid rib which is marked “JAMES MACNAUGHTON. 26 HANOVER St. EDINBURGH.”, 2005 dated London nitro reproofs including “LINED” marked on either barrel, 2 1/2 inch chambers with single
extractor, and light engraving at the breech. The action is one of MacNaughton’s famous triggerplate “Skeleton” variety, of which, only some

Manufactured in 1896 per page 120 of Nigel Brown’s “British Gunmakers Volume Two: Birmingham, Scotland, and the Regions”. Blued steel barrels with a single bead sight on the smooth concave rib which is marked “JAMES MACNAUGHTON & SONS. 26. HANOVER STREET. EDINBURGH.” along with fine scroll flourishes, 1993 dated London proofs with “SLEEVED” marking, 2 3/4” chambers with single extractor, and choke constrictions of .014/.024 inches. The casehardened boxlock action shows light engraved borders with “J. MACNAUGHTON” signatures on either side. The gun features a Westley Richards type toplever,
double triggers, and a tang mounted automatic safety with gold “SAFE” inlay. Beautifully figured, multi-point checkered forend and straight grip stock

Factory Deep Relief Game Scene Engraved E. Jopp Vorm Emil Kerner & Sohn Double Rifle - Serial no. 18714, 9.3x74R cal., 24 3/8 inch solid rib bbl., blue/coin finish, walnut stock. Blued steel barrels with a ramped beaded blade front and two leaf (rear leaf absent) rear sight on the matted solid rib which is marked “E. JOPP, VORM. EMIL KERNER & SOHN, SUHL” (E. Jopp formerly Emil Kerner & Son), 2 3/8 inch wedges of oak leaf engraving at either breech, 1927
dated German proofs, and chambers with a single extractor. The coin finished sideclipped boxlock action displays
attractive deep oak leaf engraving surrounding a trio of running wild boars on the right and a red stag with two hinds in a forested scene on the left. The rifle
features bushed firing pins, cocking indicators, dual single set triggers, and a tang mounted manual safety switch. Nicely figured, multi-point checkered splinter forend with engraved fittings and a horn tip, and pistol grip stock with ebony drop point inlays, engraved steel grip cap, rear sling swivel, shadowline cheekpiece, and rubber recoil pad.
Length of pull 14 1/8 inches. Weight 8 lbs. 5 oz. CONDITION: Very fine, retaining 97% plus original blue and coin finishes with minor handling evidence, some scattered minor spotting on the barrels, some dried grease on the action. The wood is very good showing speckles of a yellow substance on the stock, a few dings and scratches, recoil pad hardened and deteriorating, and overall crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. 150 have been built by the firm since 1879. This action represents the pinnacle of Scottish gunmaking and is amongst the most desirable gun from the country, rivaled only by Dickson’s round body action. The action is casehardened and displays near full coverage floral scroll engraving with “MACNAUGHTON” and “EDINBURGH” in banners across the fences. The gun features double triggers, crystal cocking window in the upper tang, and a tang mounted safety switch. Beautifully figured, multi-point checkered forend with engraved shoe and horn tip, and straight grip stock with gold inscription oval marked
“J/A/F” and serrated ebony buttplate. Barrel and stock measurements (R/L): bore diameter nine inches from the breech both proofed at 18.4mm (.724 inches) and measured .725 inches; choke constriction .012/.021 inches; minimum wall thickness .027/.028 inches; 1 1/2 inch drop at comb; 2 inch drop at heel; 14 13/16 inch length of pull; cast-off; weight 6 lbs. 4 oz. CONDITION: Very fine, retaining 98% professionally reapplied brown finish on the barrels, attractive silver patina on the action and triggerguard, and overall light handling evidence. The wood is fine with a spliced repair in the left of the forend, a small crack beneath the watertable, a few minor dings and scratches, and overall crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. Factory Engraved Otto Geyger Clamshell Boxlock Double Rifle with Scope - Serial no. 9611, 9 mm cal., 23 1/4 inch solid rib bbl., blue/casehardened finish, walnut stock. Blued steel barrels with a ramped blade front sight, fixed rear sight, and a set of German style claw mounts holding a Zeiss Zielvier scope on the matted solid rib, “O. GEYGER & Co. BERLIN” marked on either barrel, caliber marked “9 mm” likely for the 9.3x74R cartridge, and chambers with a single extractor. The scalloped casehardened clamshell boxlock action displays extensive scroll engraving along with a gold inlaid three-letter monogram on the toplever. The rifle features a pair of single set triggers, cocking indicators, and a Greener
style safety. Beautifully figured, multi-point checkered forend with engraved fittings and a folding hook in the right of the forend, and a round knob pistol grip stock with a
shadowline cheekpiece, rear sling swivel, trapdoor cartridge compartment, and red rubber recoil pad. Length of pull 14 1/8 inches. Weight 8 lbs. 2 oz. CONDITION: Very fine as professionally refurbished, retaining 98% blue finish, 95% original case colors, and minor handling evidence. The wood is good with a few dings and scratches, some edge wear, small crack in the left of the forend, long cracks in the stock below the cheekpiece, and overall crisp checkering. The scope optics are slightly hazy. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 4,000 - 7,000
