Von Lengerke & Antoine Retailed Factory Engraved Parker Brothers 20 Gauge DHE Grade Double Barrel Shotgun - Serial no. 230374, 20 gauge, 30 inch solid rib bbl., blue/casehardened finish, walnut stock. Manufactured
in 1929 and is one of just 330 built in this configuration per page 291 of “The Parker Story” by Gunther, Mullins, Parker, Price, and Cote. Blued barrels with a single bead sight
on the matted concave solid rib which is marked “PARKER BROS. MAKERS. MERIDEN, CT. TITANIC STEEL.” and chambers measured 2 3/4 inches with automatic ejectors. The casehardened action features standard DHE Grade engraving consisting of floral scrollwork surrounding a setter on the right, a flock of mallards on the underside, and a pointer
on the left. The gun features a double triggers and a tang mounted automatic safety switch. Beautifully figured, multi-point checkered forend with engraved fittings and pistol grip stock with blank inscription oval, Parker grip cap, and an engraved skeleton buttplate around the checkered butt. Included is the Von Lengerke & Antoine bill of sale listing this gun by serial number with period hand written corrections and showing the sale was made to F. R. Shepherd of Highland Park, Illinois, on September 21, 1929. Fred Reed Shepherd was president of major railroad supply company Crerar, Adams, & Co. as well as a member of the Illinois National Guard’s 1st Infantry. Also includes a Von Lengerke & Antoine marked leather mutton leg takedown case with cleaning tools. Barrel and stock measurements (R/L): bore diameter nine inches from the breech .618/.618 inches; choke constriction .026/.025 inches; minimum wall thickness .032/.033 inches; 1 1/2 inch drop at comb; 2 1/2 inch drop at heel; 14 1/2 inch length of pull; weight 6 lbs. 12 oz.
CONDITION: Very fine, retaining 90% plus original blue finish with much of the loss on the triggerguard, 40% original case colors with the balance a silver and brown patina, some thinning in areas on the barrel blue, scattered minor spotting, a few light dings and scratches in the refurbished stock, an ill-fitting replacement initial oval, slightly softened checkering on the forend and wrist. The case is very good with moderate wear. Mechanically excellent.

Rare Parker Brothers 20 Gauge GH Grade Double Barrel Shotgun Two Barrel Set - Serial no. 181316, 20 gauge, 32 inch solid rib bbl., blue/casehardened finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in 1918. According to page 279 of “The Parker Story” by Gunther, Mullins, Parker, Price, and Cote, only 40 of these GH Grade guns in 20 gauge with 32 inch barrels were built, making this quite a rare gun. Dual white bead sights on the matted solid rib which is marked “PARKER BROS MAKERS. MERIDEN. CT. U.S.A. PARKER SPEC. STEEL”, standard markings, chambers lengthened to 3 inches with extractor, and choke constrictions of .025/.025 inches. The casehardened action features standard GH engraving consisting of oval game bird scenes on the left, right, and underside surrounded by light scrollwork and line borders. The gun features double triggers and tang mounted automatic safety. Lightly
figured, multi-point checkered splinter forend with engraved fittings and a pistol grip stock with silver inscription shield, factory grip cap, and added Pachmayr Old English recoil

CONDITION: Very fine, retaining 95% refinished blue, 20% original case colors with the balance a mix of brown and silver patina, scattered minor spotting on the barrels, and overall mild handling evidence. The wood is very good with numerous small dings and scratches and crisp checkering. The extra barrel set is also very fine. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 5,000 - 8,000
