Outstanding Factory Master Carl Ennis Signed and Game Scene Engraved
Remington Model 740 FDL “F Grade” Semi- Automatic Rifle - Serial no. 57308, 30-06 Springfield cal., 22
inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. Remington’s “F Grade” guns were a product of the custom shop and are entirely hand fitted before undergoing the extensive embellishment process displayed on this rifle. Blued barrel with a ramped beaded blade front sight, elevation adjustable rear sight, standard markings, and a wedge of scroll engraving at the breech extending toward the muzzle. The receiver is covered in absolute fantastic broad leafy scrollwork surrounding seven separate game scenes. The scenes consist of a grizzly bear, a moose, and a deer on the left; a deer on the top side, and a big horn ram, a bugling elk, and a cougar on the right, all of which are rendered in high detail. The scroll extends to the trigger guard and underside of the action where it surrounds the hand cut manufacturer, model, and serial number markings. The gun is signed with a small “E” beneath the moose on the left, the signature of Remington Master Engraver Carl Ennis. Beautifully figured, multi- point checkered forend and pistol grip stock with factory grip cap, blank gold inscription oval, and serrated buttplate. CONDITION: Excellent, retaining 99% original blue finish with minimal handling evidence. The wood is very fine with a few dings at the toe, scattered light scratches, and sharp checkering. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 7,000 - 12,000

Exceptional Pre-World War II Factory Engraved Remington Model 14C Special Grade Slide Action Rifle with History - Serial no. 91985, 32 Rem cal., 22 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. Fitted with a beaded blade front and adjustable rear sight. The barrel features a band of floral open scroll engraving coming off the breech end. The receiver features classic “C”, or special, grade engraving consisting of flowing floral scroll enveloping a burst on the left side and an intertwining curl on the right, triangular geometric motifs at the front and
rear of both sides, wavy line and punchdot motifs on the bottom, and more floral scroll on the top. The engraving extends to the trigger guard which displays scroll on the trigger guard bow, and geometric intertwining lines at the front. Mounted with a lightly figured multipoint checkered walnut forend and pistol grip buttstock with cheek piece, hard rubber grip cap, and blued steel buttplate. An included Charles D. Yellott Master Gunsmith letter attributes this rifle to Henry Uihlein II, whose family formerly owned the Joseph Schlitz Brewing Company. Yellot states the rifle was given to Henry by the president of Remington sometime before World War II. CONDITION: Excellent, retaining 98% plus original blue finish with some light slide retraction marks on the magazine tube and crisp engraving. Wood is exceptionally fine with crazing in the varnish and slightly softened engraving. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 5,500 - 8,500
