Factory Master Engraved Fabbri Tipo Piccione Extra Sidelock Over/Under
Shotgun Two Barrel Set with Case -
Serial no. E312, 12 gauge, 28 inch vent rib bbl., blue/casehardened finish, walnut stock.
Ivo Fabbri got his start in firearms along side one of the most well-known names in
the business Daniele Perazzi. After they split, Perazzi went on to create arguably the
world’s finest sporting guns, and Fabbri perused his dream to built the finest guns
in the world, with this gun being true to that end. Fabbri only builds some 30 guns
a year, each is hand crafted from the ground up by some of Italy’s finest craftsmen.
Built with blued Bohler Super Blitz Steel barrels featuring dual nickel bead sights on the matted flat solid rib which is marked with a gold “1” at the base, upper tube marked with standard markings, bands of engraving at the breech, floral scrollwork along the sides on the chambers, 1970 dated Italian proofs, and 2
3/4 inch chambers with automatic ejectors. The barrels are fitted to a casehardened sidelock action which displays highly attractive extensive scroll engraving with interspersed ribbons and bouquets all surrounding bright action pins and a banner on the underside reading “ARMI FABBRI BRESCIA”. The scrollwork the extends onto the triggerguard, toplever, and the upper and lower tang where it surrounds the serial number in a banner. The engraving is unsigned though it
is clear from the masterful execution that this gun was cut by the hands of a of a highly skilled engraver. The gun features a single non-selective trigger, cocking
indicators, and a tang mounted manual safety. The gun is mounted with a highly-figured and multi-point checkered forend with engraved blued fittings and a gold
pigeon inlaid into the wood ahead of the shoe as well as a pistol grip stock with “J.C.” inlaid in gold directly into the wood and a Blue-Line rubber recoil pad. Included is a second matching set of 28 inch barrels with a gold “2” at the base of the rib and 2 3/4 inch chamber. Also included is a wood & leather takedown case as well as an extra set of springs and strikers. Barrel measurements for the extra
set (U/O): bore diameter nine inches from the breech both proofed 18.5mm (.728 inches) and measured .731/.729 inches; choke constriction .029/.037 inches; minimum wall thickness .030/.033 inches. Barrel and stock measurements (U/O): bore diameter nine inches from the breech both proofed 18.4mm (.724 inches) and measured .729/.728 inches; choke constriction .008/.008 inches; minimum wall thickness .026/.034 inches; 1 3/8 inch drop at comb; 2 38 inch drop at heel; 13 7/8 inch length of pull; weight 7 lbs. 4 oz.
CONDITION: Excellent overall, retaining 99% original blue and casehardened finishes with with minor handling evidence, some light edge wear, and sharp checkering on the stock and forend. The extra barrel set is also excellent. The case is excellent. Mechanically excellent. This is a great chance to own a piece from one of Italy’s premier makers!
