Very Scarce and Highly Desirable
Swiss SIG PE 57 Semi-Automatic Rifle with
Bayonet and Accessories - Serial no.
PE2539, 7.5 mm Swiss cal., 24 inch round
bbl., blue/black finish, synthetic stock. A very
scarce semi-automatic commercial version
of the Swiss SIG Sturmgewehr 57, which
utilizes a roller-delayed action design similar
to the H&K G3 and Spanish CETME and was
in service from 1957 to 1990, when it was
phased out for the SIG SG 550. The semi-
automatic PE versions were imported for a
very short window of time in the early 1980s,
making them a seldom seen rarity on the U.S.
collectors market. Features folding hooded
blade front and adjustable peep rear sights,
barrel integrated grenade spigot launcher
and ported muzzle brake, bayonet
lug, folding bipod, folding carry
handle, right side mounted “T”
charging handle, color coded “S/1”
selector markings, and flip-down
winter trigger on the right side
of the trigger housing. The top of
the receiver is marked with “Swiss
cross in shield” crest and the serial
number, while the right side of
the trigger housing is marked
with a Mandall’s importer mark.
Matching partial “2539” serial
numbers on the bolt, bolt carrier,
trigger housing, stock assembly,
and barrel shroud. Fitted with vented
metal handguard with ribbed rubber grip section, ribbed
polymer pistol grip, and straight rubberized buttstock. Includes
bayonet and scabbard, leather saddle scabbard rig, leather sling, cleaning kit, spare spring set, two add-on iron sights, and black leather purse containing three extra magazines.
CONDITION: Excellent overall, retaining 97% plus original blue and black finishes with an attractive plum hue to a few sub components, light safety drag line, limited minor scuffs, and limited faint spotting. The saddle scabbard is very fine with supple leather. Mechanically excellent.
