Factory Game Scene Engraved Connecticut Shotgun Manufacturing Co. 28 Gauge A-10 American Deluxe Over/Under Shotgun - Serial no. A10- 001086, 28 gauge, 30 inch vent rib bbl., blue/coin finish, walnut stock. Connecticut Shotgun Manufacturing Company is the United State’s premier shotgun maker and has constructed some of the finest guns ever built on this side of the Atlantic and this gun is no exception. Built with blued steel barrels featuring a single red bead sight on the matted vent rib, standard factory markings on both sides of the upper tube, interchangeable chokes (improved cylinder/skeet 1 installed), and 2 3/4 inch chambers with automatic ejectors. The barrels are fitted to a very attractive coin finished self-opening hand detachable sidelock action which displays lovely tight scroll engraving surrounding “DELUXE” and “A-10/AMERICAN” marked on the underside, gold plated pins, and a pair of beautifully executed game scenes which are cut in extensive detail and display a pointer preparing to flush a pair of pheasant cocks in the high grass on the left lockplate and a setter about to flush a pheasant cock on the right lockplate. The gun features a single gold trigger with adjustable length of pull and a tang mounted automatic safety/selector. The gun is mounted in an exceptionally well-figured and multi-point checkered forend with engraved and coin finished fittings and a gold Great Seal of the United States along with a straight grip stock with factory rubber recoil pad. This gun is consecutively serialized to the pair in the previous lot. Barrel and stock measurements (U/O): bore diameter nine inches from the breech .555/.553 inches; minimum wall thickness .030/.033 inches; 1 3/8 inch drop at comb; 1 13/16 inch drop at heel; 14 3/4 inch length of pull; weight 6 lbs. 3 oz. CONDITION: Excellent, retaining 99% original blue and coin finishes with minor handling evidence. The wood is also excellent with a few tiny scratches, a stress line at the upper tang, and sharp checkering. Mechanically needs work as trigger will not drop the upper hammer.
