Excellent World War II U.S. Colt Model 1911A1
Semi-Automatic Pistol - Serial no. 2265683, 45 ACP
cal., 5 inch round bbl., parkerized finish, plastic grips.
Manufactured in 1945, the last year of Colt production for the
U.S. contract Model 1911A1 pistols. Features fixed blade front and notch rear
sights, blued barrel marked “P” and “square C” on the recoil lug, the standard two-line, two-block address and patent dates marking with “rampant colt” on
the left of the slide, checkered thumb safety, slide stop, and narrow hammer, an arched serrated mainspring housing with lanyard loop at the bottom. The left of the frame bears a “G.H.D.” (Lt. Col. Guy H. Drewry) inspector mark and “6/VP” on the trigger guard and “P” proof, while the right side bears the serial number, model, U.S. property markings, and “crossed” cannons ordnance proof along with “91” on the trigger guard. Fitted with a pair of brown checkered plastic “Coltwood” grips and “S” marked full blued magazine.
CONDITION: Excellent plus, nearly as issued, retaining 98% plus original parkerized finish with minor cycling wear on the barrel and slide, but otherwise limited
mild handling marks. Grips are also excellent with
crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. An exemplary specimen of a 1945 production U.S. Colt M1911A1 pistol. Estimate: 3,500 - 5,000

Hammerless Semi-
Automatic Pistol - Serial no.
558813, 32 ACP cal., 3 7/8 inch round bbl., blue finish,
walnut grips. Manufactured in 1941. This pistol’s serial
number falls within the 541,103 to 569,725 range of 2,828
pistols sent to the U.S. Office of Strategic Services (housed
at the Fowler Building in Rosslyn, Virginia) between April 17,
1944, and September 26, 1944, under “Factory Order No. 4420, War Department
Requisition W-19-059-Ord-1038”, as discussed on page 81 of “The Colt Pocket
Hammerless Automatic Pistols” by Brunner, but there is no documentation
included with the pistol connecting it to that order. It is noted on page 129 of
the same publication, however, that the following serial number after this pistol
(558,814) was issued to Brig. Gen. Richard Lee Harris on July 31, 1971. Features fixed
blade front and notch rear sights, blued barrel marked “COLT 32 AUTO” on the left
side, standard two-line address and patent dates on the left side of the slide with
caliber marking on the right and matching serial number on
the interior, “U.S. PROPERTY” marking on the right of the frame
with “18” on the trigger guard, and the serial number on the
left of the frame with “triangle VP” and “4” marked on that side
of the trigger guard. Fitted with a pair of checkered walnut
grips with silver Colt medallions and blued magazine with
“CAL.32/COLT” marked on the underside of the floor plate.
CONDITION: Excellent, retaining 90% plus original blue
finish with minor edge wear, minor spotting and faint pitting with light spotting/pitting between the chamber face and barrel, some brown patina showing through the slightly thinning grip straps, and otherwise limited handling wear. The grips are very fine with minor compression wear and defined checkering. Mechanically excellent.

1911A1 Semi-Automatic Pistol - Serial no. 1209626,
45 ACP cal., 5 inch round bbl., parkerized finish, plastic
grips. Manufactured in late 1943, with the 1,20X,XXX to
1,24X,XXX serial range of Ithaca Gun Co. M1911A1 pistols including some
5,000 pistol that were shipped to the Office of Strategic Services (OSS) on
January 11, 1944, as found on page 117 of “U.S. Military Automatic Pistols 1920- 1945” by Meadows. Features fixed blade front and notch rear sights, blue barrel
with “P” and “HS” on the recoil lug, standard Ithaca address roll marked on the left side of the slide with “P” proof on top and “double stamp” model marking included on the right, checkered short trigger, narrow hammer, and magazine release, along with serrated slide catch, thumb safety, and arched mainspring housing with lanyard loop. The left side of the frame bears a “FJA” (Lt. Col. Frank J. Atwood) inspector mark along with “P” proof and “cross” proof on the trigger guard,
while the right side bears the U.S. property and model markings, including the serial number and “2” on the trigger guard. Fitted with a pair of checkered “7” and “star K” marked Keyes Fiber Co. grips and “R” marked full blue magazine. Includes a hobbyist craft box hand numbered to the pistol.
CONDITION: Excellent overall, retaining 97% plus
attractive original dark parkerized finish with some
minor spotting/brown patina showing on the bottom
side of the frame, minor cycling wear on the barrel and slide, a minor takedown drag line, crisp grip checkering, and otherwise limited handling marks. Mechanically excellent. Overall a standout representative of a late 1943 production U.S. Ithaca M1911A1!

World War II U.S. “W.B.” Inspected Colt Service
Model Ace Semi-Automatic Pistol - Serial no. SM3088,
22 LR cal., 5 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut grips.
Manufactured in 1942, at the height of World War II, a pistol
such as this would have seen substantial use in the training of American troops. The left side of the slide is marked with the standard two-line address and patent dates, followed by the Rampant Colt, and the right side has the standard Service Model Ace and caliber markings. The right side of the frame has the serial number while the left has the “W.B.” inspection mark. It is fitted with blade front and adjustable notch rear sights, short milled trigger, checkered arched mainspring housing, wide checkered hammer, long grip safety, checkered walnut grips, and a full blue magazine with Colt Service Model markings on
the base.
CONDITION: Very fine, retains 80% of the original blue finish with some light edge/handling wear and some scattered speckled spotting on the grip areas. The grips are also very fine with a few scattered light blemishes in the otherwise crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
