Elaborate Deep Relief Chiseled Game Scene Engraved, Gold Inlaid, and Relief Carved Martini Pattern Schuetzen Rifle by C. Stiegele of Munich - Serial
no. 10506, 8 mm cal., 30 inch fluted bbl., blue/gold/ casehardened finish, walnut stock. Manufactured
in the early 20th century
and featuring gold and
silver inlays on the barrel
including “C Stiegele Kgl.
Bayr. Hofgewehrfabrik
Munchen,” extensive
engraving, including a deep
relief engraved game scenes
of a pack of hounds attacking a boar on the right and two pairs of deer on the left, a gold
inlaid “BH” monogram on the lever, relief carved scrollwork on the wood along with a scene
of a running stag behind the cheekpiece on the left and a scene with two chamois on the right side of the buttstock, a winged and ramped front sight, peep sight, and double set triggers. It is numbered “10506” on the barrel, forearm, and buttplate and “506” on the frame, lever, and wedge.
The underside of the barrel also has “BUG” proofs including the “172/28” bore marking (8 mm, likely 8.15 x 46R) and “A KRUPPSCHER/GUSSSTAHL”.
CONDITION: Fine with crisp engraving, bright original gold, aged patina on the silver, 50% plus original blue finish blended with smooth brown patina,
patches of original case colors in some of the protected areas, gray patina, some minor oxidation, and general mild wear. The wood is very fine and has crisp carving and minor dings and scratches. The underside of the butt has small partial labels and some tape. Mechanically excellent. Overall, a very attractive schuetzen rifle.

Attractive Panel Scene Engraved and Relief Carved J.G. Anschutz Aydt System Schuetzen Rifle - Serial no. 6044,
8.15mm x 46R cal., 32 inch octagon bbl., blue/casehardened finish, walnut stock. Manufactured c. the early 20th century. The barrel has a winged and ramped post front sight, textured top flat/rear sight mounting rib with filler screw filled scope block taps, oval
“J/G/A” marking and serial number
on the bottom of the barrel at the
breech, faint importer mark under
the forearm, traditional Germanic
blackleaf engraving surrounding a vignette of two women on the right
from a mythological scene (likely Artemis/Diana and one of her followers) and a marksman in
traditional attire on the left, double set triggers, dog head carved forearm tip, floral carving on the rear of the forearm and front of the buttstock, scroll bordered checkering on the large Tyrolean buttstock, and a single hook buttplate.
CONDITION: Fine with 60% plus original blue and casehardened finish, crisp engraving, with spots of minor edge wear and scattered dent and dings on sides of barrel. The wood is also fine with minimal storage type wear and pieced thumb rest. Mechanically excellent.
