Exceptional World War I British Contract Eddystone Pattern 14 Enfield Bolt Action Rifle with Bayonet - Serial no. 8883, 303 British cal., 26 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. Manufactured at the Remington Eddystone plant under contract for the British government. Fixed blade front and adjustable ladder and peep rear sights with the matching serial number stamped on the rear sight, and retains its volley sights on the left side of the stock and receiver. The receiver is stamped with standard British proof and acceptance marks, as is the bottom of the stock wrist. The matching number bolt and rear sight ladder are correctly stamped with an “E”. Smooth straight grip stock, with a broad arrow above circled “IE” and “PATT ‘14/E-Y” and painted stencil “537” on the right side of the buttstock. “EY” is also stamped on the left of the receiver. According to page 216 of “The Lee-Enfield Rifle” by Major E.G.B. Reynolds, the “EY” markings may denote reclassification to “Emergency Use” only. Includes a “1 17” dated Pattern 1913 bayonet, leather scabbard with metal ends, tan canvas sling, and oiler in the butt compartment. CONDITION: Exceptionally fine, retains 85% plus original blue finish with scattered light freckling. Stock is also excellent, with a few light handling marks, and distinct edges and stamps. Mechanically excellent. Bayonet and scabbard are fine. Estimate: 2,250 - 3,250

Exceptional Imperial Russian Contract U.S. Remington Model 1891 Mosin-Nagant Bolt Action Rifle with Bayonet - Serial no. 576276, 7.62x54 R cal., 31 1/2 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. These rifles were originally manufactured under contract with the Imperial Russian government during World War I. After the fall of the Russian monarchy, the Russian contracts were terminated, and these rifles were purchased by the U.S. Ordnance Department, where they were used for training purposes as well as with the American Expeditionary Forces both in North Russia and in Siberia between 1918-1919 to enable the troops to utilize stores of 7.62x54R Russian ammunition. Inverted “V” blade front and adjustable notch rear sights with the increments graduated to “32” Russian arshins, standard “imperial eagle” crest above the maker’s mark and “1917” date on the breech of the barrel, hex receiver, polished straight handle bolt, smooth American walnut stock with grasping grooves, an eagle head stamp above a flaming bomb and “U.S” on bottom ahead of the trigger guard housing, circled Russian inspection stamp on the right of the buttstock ahead of “WCC”, and a smooth steel buttplate. Matching serial numbers on the barrel, bolt, floorplate, and buttplate. Includes a socket spike bayonet numbered “1296041” and stamped with a flaming bomb and a canvas/leather sling. CONDITION: Exceptionally fine, retains 85% plus original blue finish with some light handling marks, a few patches of light freckling, some patches of moderate freckling on the bolt, and sharp markings and edges in the metal overall. Stock is excellent with distinct edges overall, some light scratches and dents, and mostly crisp stampings. Mechanically excellent. Bayonet is excellent. Estimate: 1,800 - 2,750

Fine Second Boer War Era Unit Marked Antique British Lee-Enfield L.E.C. Mk I Bolt Action Cavalry Carbine - Serial no. 9746, 303 British cal., 21 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in 1898. “Crown/VR” royal cipher above “ENFIELD/1898/L.E.C./I” marked on the left stock socket. “M. & D” above a circular “R(crown)M/Enfield” above “I./1” stamped on the right of the buttstock ahead of a circular brass disc unit stamped “QOCH/207” of the Queen’s Own Canadian Hussars cavalry regiment. This unit’s men were incorporated as volunteers into the Canadian Expeditionary Forces overseas, including the Canadian Mounted Rifles, during the Second Boer War (1899-1902). Features a 21 inch barrel with 5-groove Enfield pattern rifling, blade front sight with protective cavalry ears, ladder rear sight graduated 6-20 and fitted with an original leather sight cover, magazine cut-off, and detachable 6-round spring-loaded box magazine with connecting chain. Matching serial number “9746” marked on the receiver, barrel, rear sight ladder, and bolt. CONDITION: Fine, retains 70% faded original blue finish with smooth brown patina on the balance and some scattered light freckling. Leather rear sight cover is very good with some age related cracking
and a few small tears on the edges. Stock is very fine with some light scratches and defined stampings. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 1,600 - 2,500

Exceptional Imperial German Spandau Arsenal Model 71/84 Mauser Bolt Action Rifle - Serial no. 1892, 11 mm Mauser cal., 31 1/2 inch round bbl., blue/bright finish, walnut stock. An evolution of the single shot Mauser 1871 infantry rifle, the 71/84 integrates an under-barrel tube magazine and represents an important developmental step towards the Gewehr 98. Features dovetailed blade front and notched three-leaf folding ladder sights, with the barrel marked “crown/F.W.”, “crown/SPANDAU” and with Gothic military crown proofs on the chamber flats, and the receiver marked “I.G. Mod. 71/84” on the left and “1888.” on the right. Matching visible serial numbers on the barrel and bolt, along with matching “92” partials on some smaller parts. Fitted with a smooth straight grip stock with Gothic military crown stampings on the butt of the stock. Fitted with a modern leather sling. CONDITION: Excellent plus, retains 98% original blue finish on the barrel, barrel bands and trigger guard, with the in-the-white components retaining their attractive original bright surfaces, with a few light handling marks, and sharp markings and edges in the metal overall. Stock is also excellent with distinct edges, a few light handling marks, and exceptionally crisp stampings. Mechanically excellent. This outstanding Imperial German Spandau Mauser Model 71/84 rifle would be nearly impossible to improve upon! Estimate: 1,600 - 2,500

CONDITION: Exceptionally fine, retaining 85% plus original blue finish with minor edge wear, handling marks, thinning, spotting, and smooth brown patina mostly on the bright components. Stock is excellent with deep, crisp proofs, attractive fiddle-back pattern grain, and minor handling marks. Mechanically excellent.
