The game scenes consist of a setter in a field scene on the left, a pointer in a field scene on the right, a pair of pheasant in a field scene on the underside, and a bust of a pointer on the triggerguard, all of which are cut in lovely fine detail. The gun is mounted with a beautifully figured and fancy fleur-de-lis checkered beavertail forend with engraved fittings, rotary latch release, and ebony tip inlay as well as
a feather crotch figured pistol grip stock with an engraved blue grip cap marked “GRAND AMERICAN”, a blank gold inscription oval, and a matching checkered bare butt. Included is a second matching numbered set of 26 inch .410 bore barrels with matching forend, 3 inch chambers, and chokes marked improved cylinder/modified. Also included is a wood and leather takedown case with canvas cover, cleaning tools, oiler, and snap caps. Stock measurements: 1 7/16 inch drop at comb; 2 3/16 inch drop at heel; 14 9/16 inch length of pull; weight 7 lbs. 11 oz.
CONDITION: Exceptionally fine as custom embellished/upgraded to the current configuration, retaining 99% blue and gold finishes with minor handling evidence and sharp checkering on the stock and forend. Mechanically excellent. The case is excellent, and the extra barrel set is also exceptionally fine. A great chance at a small bore Grand American pattern set!
