Scarce L. C. Smith .410 Bore Field Grade Double Barrel Shotgun - Serial no. FWS56137, 410 gauge, 28 inch solid rib bbl., blue/casehardened finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in 1950, the final year of production. Built with blued steel barrels featuring a single brass bead sight on the matted solid rib, “L.C. SMITH-410 GA-Field- FULTON, N.Y. U.S.A.” marked on the right barrel, chambers marked 3 inches with single extractor, and choke constrictions of .008/.018 inches. The barrels are fitted to a casehardened action which is unadorned aside from “L. C. SMITH” marked on either lockplate.
The gun features double triggers and an automatic tang mounted safety. The gun is mounted with a lightly figured and multi-point checkered splinter forend and pistol grip stock with a black polymer grip cap and buttplate. Stock measurements: 1 7/16 inch drop at comb; 2 1/2 inch drop at heel; 14 1/8 inch length of pull; weight 6 lbs. 8 oz. CONDITION: Very fine, retaining 95% plus original blue finish turning a brownish hue, 95% of the original case colors on the action with some areas of muting, minor edge wear, and a few spots of tiny
freckling. The wood has a few scattered scratches, a small chip at the buttplate toe, and well-defined checkering. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 3,500 - 5,500

Factory Engraved Ithaca 20 Gauge New Ithaca Double Grade 5E Double Barrel Shotgun with Case - Serial no. 448877, 20

stock. Manufactured in 1927 and built with blued steel barrels
featuring dual white bead sights on the matted concave solid rib, choke constrictions of .017/.029 inches, and 2 3/4 inch chambers with automatic ejectors. The barrels are mated to a casehardened boxlock action which displays floral scroll engraving surrounding game bird scenes on either side and Ithaca marking on the underside. The gun features a single trigger, cocking indicators, and a tang mounted safety/selector. The gun is mounted with a lightly figured and fancy checkered forend with engraved fittings and a beautifully figured pistol grip stock with checkered flats, hard rubber grip cap, inscription shield reading “TO/ LEONARD/FROM/HAROLD”, and a Hawkins recoil pad. Includes a wood and leather takedown case, factory return documents, and a third party appraisal letter. Stock measurements: 1 5/8 inch drop at comb; 2 11/16 inch drop at heel; 13 3/4 inch length of pull; weight 6 lbs. 3 oz. CONDITION: Very fine as Ithaca factory restored, retaining 99% blue and casehardened finishes with minor handling evidence and sharp checkering on the wood. The right ejector always trips when opened, otherwise; mechanically very good. Case is very good with some wear. Estimate: 1,800 - 2,750
LOT 3549 Factory Engraved Ithaca Grade 4E Single Barrel Trap Shotgun - Serial no. 402621, 12 gauge, 30 inch vent rib bbl., blue/casehardened finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in 1946 and built with blued steel barrels featuring dual white bead sights on the matted vent rib, single band of engraving at the breech, choke constriction of .047 inches, and a 2 3/4” chamber with automatic ejector. The barrel is mated to a casehardened action which displays floral scroll engraving surrounding a hunter shooting his Ithaca on the left and a patriotic eagle holding arrows on the right. The gun is mounted with a nicely figured and fancy checkered beavertail forend with engraved fittings as well as fleur-de-lis checkered pistol grip stock with horn grip cap, gold inscription shield marked “M.M.B.”, and a red rubber recoil pad. Stock measurements: 1 3/4 inch drop at comb; 1 13/16 inch drop at heel; 13 3/4 inch length of pull; weight 8 lbs. 1 oz.
CONDITION: Very fine overall, retaining 97% original blue finish, 95% original case colors, minor handling evidence, a few patches of oxidation at the muzzle and along the barrel, some varnish over the grip cap, and sharp checkering on the stock and forend. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 2,000 - 3,000

Manufactured in 1927 and built with blued steel barrels featuring dual white bead sights on the matted vent rib, single band of engraving at the breech, choke constrictions of .025/.029 inches, and 2 3/4” chambers with automatic ejectors. CONDITION: Excellent overall, retaining 99% refurbished blue and 95% original casehardened finishes, minor handling evidence, a tiny fill at the upper tang, a few tiny chips at the wood to metal fit, and sharp checkering on the wood. Mechanically fine except for the inoperable safety. Estimate: 2,000 - 3,500
LOT 3551 Factory Engraved Ithaca Grade 5E Single Barrel Trap Shotgun - Serial no. 400627, 12 gauge, 30 1/8 inch vent rib bbl., blue/ casehardened finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in 1946. Built with a blued steel barrel featuring dual white bead sights on the matted vent rib, flourishes of scroll engraving at either side of the breech, choke constriction of .035 inches; and 2 3/4 inch chamber with automatic ejector. The barrel is fitted to a casehardened action which displays nicely cut floral scroll engraving surrounding the factory markings on the underside as well as a pair of game scenes showing a pheasant in a field on the left and a woodcock on the right. The gun is mounted with a beautifully figured and multi-point checkered trap style forend with engraved fittings and horn tip inlay and pistol grip stock with a hard rubber grip cap, blank gold inscription shield, and a Jostam Hy-Gun recoil pad. Stock measurements: 1 3/4 inch drop at comb; 1 3/4 inch drop at heel; 14 7/16 inch length of pull; weight 8 lbs. 2 oz. CONDITION: Very fine, retaining 98% original blue finish, traces of the original case colors on the action in the protected areas with silver patina on the balance, minor handling evidence, and sharp checkering on the wood. Mechanically excellent.
