Factory Engraved Parker Brothers DHE Grade Double Barrel Shotgun - Serial no. 229665, 12 gauge, 30 inch solid rib bbl., blue/casehardened finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in 1928 as one of just 3,522 gun built in this configuration of grade, gauge, barrel steel, and barrel length according to Gunther, Mullins, Parker, Price, and Cote on page 291 of “The Parker Story”. Built with blued steel barrels featuring dual white bead sights on the matted concave solid rib marked “PARKER BROS. MAKER. MERIDEN. CT. U.S.A. TITANIC STEEL”, light engraving at the breech, and chambers measured
2 3/4 inches with automatic ejectors. The barrels are fitted to a casehardened boxlock action which displays standard DH Grade engraving consisting of floral scroll work surrounding a trio of game scenes consisting of a setter in a field on the right, a brood of pheasants in tall grass on the underside, and a pointer in a field on the left. The gun features a double
triggers and a tang mounted automatic safety. The gun is mounted with an attractively figured and multi-point checkered splinter forend with engraved fittings and a pistol grip stock with carved flats, blank silver inscription oval, and a Hawkins rubber recoil pad. Barrel and stock measurements (R/L): bore diameter nine inches from the breech .734/.732 inches; choke constriction .012/.029 inches;
minimum wall thickness .025/.028 inches; 1 11/16 inch drop at comb; 3 1/8 inch drop at heel; 14 9/16 inch length of pull; weight 7 lbs. 10 oz.
CONDITION: Very fine overall, retaining 90% original blue with the loss on the triggerguard/lower tang, 30% original case colors on the action, a few rubs near the muzzle, some scattered minor spotting on the barrels, light handling evidence, and sharp checkering on the stock and forend. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 3,000 - 4,500
LOT 3553 Documented Factory Engraved Parker Brothers DHE Grade Double Barrel Shotgun - Serial no. 134947, 12 gauge, 30 inch solid rib bbl., blue/casehardened finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in 1906. Blued Titanic Steel barrels with dual bead sights on the matted concave solid rib, chambers measured 2 3/4 inches with ejectors, and choke constrictions of .034/.035 inches. The barrels are fitted to a casehardened boxlock action that displays standard DH Grade engraving consisting of floral scrollwork surrounding a setter on the right, a brood of game birds on the underside, and a pointer on the left. The gun features double triggers and a manual safety. Mounted in a nicely contrasted multipoint checkered walnut splinter forend with engraved fittings and Deeley latch
and straight grip stock with silver initial escutcheon and skeleton buttplate around the checkered bare butt. The grade, barrel length, stock, ejectors, and gauge are confirmed on page 387 of
“Parker Gun Identification and Serialization” by Price and Fjestad. Stock measurements: 1 1/2 inch drop at comb; 2 7/16 inch drop at heel; 14 3/16 inch length of pull; weight 8 lbs 1 oz. CONDITION: Excellent, retaining 90% original blue with some thinning and 80% muted case colors with handling marks, a couple dings in the barrels, some spotting/pitting, crisp engraving, and reblued triggerguard. The revarnished wood is very fine with some hairline cracks at the action, spots of excess varnish, a crack off the buttplate, and softened checkering. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 2,250 - 3,500
LOT 3554 Parker Brothers VH Grade Double Barrel Shotgun - Serial no. 227900, 12 gauge, 30 inch solid rib bbl., blue/casehardened finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in 1928. Built with blued Vulcan Steel barrels with single steel bead sight on the matted concave solid rib, 2 3/4 inch chambers with single extractor, and choke constrictions of .031/.036 inches. The barrels are mated to a casehardened boxlock action with double triggers, automatic safety, and light zig-zag border around the receiver. The gun is fitted with a lightly figured and multi-point checkered forend with Deeley latch release and pistol grip stock with Parker grip cap, blank inscription shield, and dog’s head buttplate. Stock measurements: 1
1/2 inch drop at comb; 2 3/4 inch drop at heel; 14 3/8 inch length of pull; weight 7 lbs. 6 oz. CONDITION: Excellent overall, retaining 95% original blue and casehardened finishes with a few scratches on the barrels, blue loss on the triggerguard, and some high edge wear on
the action. The wood is very fine with a few minor marks, repaired chip in the buttplate, a few small patches of thinned varnish, and sharp checkering. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 1,600 - 2,500

Scarce Factory Game Scene Engraved Whitney Safety Firearms Co. 20 Gauge Double Barrel Squeeze Safety Shotgun - Serial no. 369, 20 gauge, 28 inch solid rib bbl., blue/ casehardened finish, walnut stock. Manufactured c. 1889-1894. Built with Damascus barrels with a white bead front sight on the solid rib marked “Whitney S.F.A. Co. Florence. Mass. U.S.A.” on the rib, and 2 1/2 inch chambers. The
barrels are mated to a casehardened boxlock action with light scroll engraving and a scene of two mallards on the left and a pair of pigeon on the right as well as the patent information surrounding a pointer on the underside. Fitted with double triggers and a squeeze safety integrated into the lower tang. The gun is mounted in a straight grain simple fleur-de-lis checkered walnut splinter forend and pistol grip stock with hard rubber grip cap and added solid red rubber recoil pad. Stock measurements: 1 1/4 inch drop at
the comb; 1 15/16 inch drop at the heel; 14 11/16 inch length of pull; weight 5 lbs. 15 oz. CONDITION: Good, with distinct patterns on the barrel and retaining 40% original case colors with scattered handling marks, some light pitting, and some softening of the engraving. Wood
is very fine with scattered dings and scratches and some softening of the checkering. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 1,600 - 2,500

Factory Engraved L.C. Smith/Hunter Arms Grade 2E Side by Side Sidelock Shotgun - Serial no. 213556, 12 gauge, 30 inch solid rib bbl., blue/casehardened finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in 1911. Blue Crown Steel barrels with 2 3/4 inch chambers, automatic ejectors, dual white bead sights on the matte concave rib, one-line Hunter Arms address at the breech end of the rib behind a small silver inlaid bar, and improved cylinder/modified chokes. Casehardened sidelock action with flourishes of light scroll engraving, locks with “L.C. SMITH”
maker’s marks and small game bird scenes of grouse on the right and quail on the left, Hunter One single selective trigger, and manual sliding safety. Checkered walnut pistol grip stock
and forearm with lightly engraved fittings, roller latch, hard rubber grip cap, and serrated horn buttplate. Barrel and stock measurements are: bore diameter at 9 inches from breech .733/.733; choke constriction .011/.019; minimum wall thickness .029/.025; drop at comb 1 11/16 inches; drop at heel 2 1/4 inches; length of pull 13 5/8 inches.
CONDITION: Fine with 85% plus original blue finish on the barrels, some light edge and muzzle wear, and scattered small surface scratches and nicks. The receiver has approximately 50% of the original case colors with the balance a smooth dove gray patina with well-defined engraving and muted shadows of original case colors. The wood is fine as refinished with freshened checkering, small dings and
scratches throughout, and some light chipping around the locks. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 1,600 - 2,250
