CONDITION: Very fine with 75% plus of the older refinished blue remaining along the barrel,
some patches of smooth brown patina, bright gold vent and maker’s marks, mostly bright
lock and standing breech with crisp engraving, attractively aged patina on the silver mounts
throughout, and generally only light handling and storage related wear. The stock is also very
fine and has crisp carving, attractive figure, and mild scratches and dings concentrated on the
butt. Mechanically excellent. This is a beautiful piece from a well-known and highly regarded
18th century gunmaker Joseph Griffin.
