Factory Relief Engraved and Gold Inlaid
Victor Sarasqueta 16 Gauge Hand Detachable Sidelock Double Barrel Shotgun Two Barrel
Set with Case - Serial no. 110003, 16 gauge, 27 5/8 inch solid rib bbl., blue/coin/gold finish, walnut stock.
Built with blued steel chopperlump barrels featuring a single white bead sight on the matted concave solid rib
which is marked “Fa DE VICTOR SARASQUETA-EIBAR-”, “1”, and with the company logo all in gold inlay, extensive scroll
engraving with stag and hind scenes at either breech, “FABRICADA ESPECIAMENTE PARA” and “HW SCHWEINSBERG” on the right
and left tubes respectively, 1953 dated Spanish proofs, and 2 3/4 inch chambers with automatic ejectors. The barrels are fitted to
a coin finished hand detachable sidelock action which displays deep floral engraving surrounding a dog and mallards on the left,
a dog and pheasants on the right, and the Australian crest on the underside all rendered in fine gold inlay. The embellishment continues with a trio of mallards on the triggerguard as
well as a gold inlaid three letter monogram “HWS” on the toplever. The gun features bushed firing pins, double triggers, and a tang mounted automatic safety with gold “S” indicator. The
gun is fitted with a nicely figured and multi-point checkered forend with engraved fittings and a pistol grip stock with teardrop carved drop points, plastic grip cap, raised cheekpiece,
and a Noshoc recoil pad. Included is a second matching engraved 27 5/8 inch barrel set in 16 gauge numbered “2” as well as a wooden takedown case that houses the set. The H. W.
Schweinsberg above appears to be Harry Schweinsberg, well-known missionary to Columbia and author of “Inca Gold”. Barrel measurements for the extra set (U/O): bore diameter nine
inches from the breech both proofed and measured 16.8mm (.661 inches); choke constriction .021/.025 inches; minimum wall thickness .018/.027 inches. Barrel and stock measurements (R/L): bore diameter

CONDITION: Very good overall, retaining 97% original blue, coin, and gold finishes, some
spotting/oxidation on the action and barrels, loss of gold on the triggers, scratches and dings
on the wood, and overall sharp checkering. Mechanically excellent. The case is very good. The
extra barrel is very good with some pitting.

Model MTs 11-2 Sidelock Double Barrel Shotgun - Serial
no. 631093, 12 gauge, 29 1/2 inch solid rib bbl., blue/casehardened/
gold finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in the USSR by the Central Design
and Research Bureau of Sporting and Hunting Arms “TsKIB SOO” starting in 1968
and is one of only some 300 built and is widely regarded as one of the finest guns built
in the Soviet Union, often referred to by collectors as the Russian Purdey due to the overall quality
and the employment of Purdey’s classic Beesley action. Built with blued steel chopperlump barrels
featuring a single bead sight on the matted flat solid rib, three bands of gold inlay at the breech, Russian proofs on the flats, and 2 3/4 inch chambers with
automatic ejectors. The barrels are fitted to a casehardened self-opening Beesley style sidelock action which displays fantastic deep leaf engraving on the fences,
scroll engraving, and gold borders all around four deeply cut highly detailed game scenes. The scenes depict a pair of setters with a trio of quail on the left, a bull
and cow moose on the underside, a pair of pointers set to flush a trio of pheasants on the right, and a pair of snipe on the triggerguard. The gun features bushed
firing pins, gold pins and cocking indicators, double gold triggers, and a manual tang safety with gold inlaid safety indicator. The gun is fitted with an attractive
multi-point checkered forend with engraved and gold inlaid fittings and a straight grip stock with teardrop carved drop points and a checkered bare butt. Barrel and
stock measurements (R/L): bore diameter nine inches from the breech .731/.731 inches; choke constriction .037/.048 inches; minimum wall thickness .038/.036 inches; 1 13/16
inch drop at comb; 2 9/16 inch drop at heel; 14 1/2 inch length of pull; weight 8 lbs. 4 oz.
CONDITION: Excellent overall, retaining 99% original blue, casehardened, and gold finishes with minor handling evidence, a few tiny pressure marks in the wood, and sharp checkering on the stock and
forend. Mechanically excellent. A rare opportunity to own one of the finest guns made under the Soviet regime!
