Outstanding Remington Factory Custom Shop Model 1100S
Skeet Premier F Grade Semi-Automatic Shotgun, Engraved
by Master Engraver Don Talbot - Serial no. N499173V, 12 gauge, 25 1/2 inch vent rib bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. The Premier, or F, grade
was exclusively the product of the Remington Factory Custom Shop, with masterfully hand-fitted components and superb embellishment.
This particular example was
produced in 1983, during the
tenure of Don Talbot, master
engraver. Talbot, regarded as
one of the best to ever work
for Remington, is a master of
the American style of game
scene engraving, as well as
a practitioner of the Italian
“bulino” school, which uses
near-microscopic line and
dot work to produce shading
and depth rarely seen on
American arms. White front
and nickel mid bead sights,
with a Remington Special Skeet
choke, the two line address
on the right side of the barrel,
and the 2 3/4 inch chamber
markings on the reverse. A 3
1/2” wedge of scroll engraving
with punch-dot background is present
on each side of the breech, terminating with a leaf border pattern.

Factory Carl Ennis Signed and Game Scene Engraved Remington 28 Gauge Model 11-48 F Grade Semi-Automatic Shotgun - Serial
no. 4011531, 28 gauge, 25 1/2 inch vent rib bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. The “F”, or “Premier”, grade was built with serious competitors and
sportsmen in mind, featuring more gorgeous engraving and benefiting from the precision hand fitting by the master gunsmiths of the Custom
Shop. Built with a blued steel barrel featuring dual bead sights on the matted vent rib, 6 inch wedges of floral scroll engraving on either
side of the breech
encompassing the
standard Remington
barrel markings, 2 3/4
inch chamber, and
choke constriction
of .005 inches. The
barrel is mated to a
blued receiver which
shows more of the
beautifully cut floral
scroll engraving over a
punch-dot background
surrounding six
separate game scenes
as well as a hand cut
serial number and
“Remington MODEL
11-48-F” over the
serial number on the underside. The game scenes consist of a mallard in a pond scene, a pair of pointers in a field, and a pair of quail in flight
on the right, and a pheasant in a field, a pair of setters in a field, and a grouse in flight on the left side. There is also a bust of a pointer on the
triggerguard. The work is signed on the left side below the dogs with a simple “E” signature for Remington Master Engraver Carl Ennis.
