Hubertus Sidelock Double Barrel Shotgun - Serial no. 75643,
12 gauge, 28 inch solid rib bbl., blue/coin finish, walnut stock.
The gun is built with blued steel barrels featuring a single bead
sight on the matted solid rib, “PGH BUCHSENMACHER SUHL”
and “’HUBERTUS’” marked on the right and left tubes respectively, 2 inch wedges of scroll
engraving at either breech, import mark under forend, 1968 dated German proof marks, and 2 3/4 inch chambers with automatic ejectors.
The barrels are fitted to a handsomely adorned coin finished sidelock action which displays deep cut scroll engraving surrounding deep relief cut game scenes depicting a raptor
descending on a trio of pheasant cocks on the left and a pointer flushing a covey of birds on the right before extending to the toplever, triggerguard, and both tangs. The gun
features double triggers, cocking indicators, and a tang mounted automatic safety. The gun is fitted with an attractively figured and multi-point checkered forend featuring engraved
fittings, oak leaf carving, bone inlaid linework, and bone oak leaf inlays as well as a pistol grip stock with the same oak leaf and inlays with additional mallards, a black grip cap, raised
cheekpiece, blank gold inscription oval, and a checkered buttplate. Barrel and stock measurements (R/L): bore diameter nine inches from the breech .719/.719 inches; choke constriction
.027/.031 inches; minimum wall thickness .037/.040 inches; 1 11/16 inch drop at comb; 2 15/16 inch drop at heel; 14 5/16 inch length of pull; weight 7 lbs. 1 oz.
CONDITION: Excellent overall, retaining 99% original blue and coin finishes with minor handling evidence, some dried grease on the action, and sharp checkering on the stock and forend. Mechanically excellent.

Factory Game Scene Engraved Gebruder Merkel 20 Gauge Boxlock Double Barrel
Shotgun - Serial no. 380586, 20 gauge, 26 13/16 inch solid rib bbl., blue/coin finish, walnut
stock. Built with blued barrels featuring a single brass bead sight on the matted concave solid rib, dual
bands of engraving at the breech, standard markings, 1995 dated German proof marks, choke constrictions
of .009/.019 inches, and 3 inch chambers with automatic ejectors. The barrels are fitted to a coin finished
boxlock action which displays light scroll engraving around a trio of mallards on the left
and a trio of quail on the right. The gun features bushed firing pins, cocking indicators
on either side of the action, double triggers, and a tang mounted automatic safety.
The gun is mounted with a beautifully figured and multi-point checkered forend with
engraved fittings and Deeley latch release and a straight grip stock with a factory
buttplate. Stock measurements: 1 1/2 inch drop at comb; 2 3/8 inch drop at heel; 14
11/16 inch length of pull; weight 5 lbs. 14 oz.
CONDITION: Excellent overall, retaining 99% original blue and coin finishes with
minor handling evidence and sharp checkering on the stock and forend. Mechanically
excellent.
