Excellent Nickel Plated Colt “.32 on a .38 Frame”
Police Positive Double Action Revolver with Rare 2 1/2 Inch Barrel and Original Box - Serial no. 323778, 32 police cal., 2 1/2 inch round bbl., nickel finish,
walnut grips. Manufactured circa 1929, this is a rare variation of Colt’s Police Positive revolver that has a .32 caliber barrel and cylinder fitted to a .38 caliber size frame. These revolvers are commonly
referred to by collectors simply as a “.32 on a .38 frame”. These revolvers were a special offering by Colt from around 1929 to 1943, and they are found in the serial number range of around 300,000
to 406,735. The rare 2 1/2 inch barrel has the model/caliber marking on the left side and two-line address on the right side. It has a blade front sight, groove rear sight on the matted frame top (a
feature of the new series), a checkered trigger, and a pair of checkered walnut grips with Colt medallions. There are matching numbers are found on the yoke and crane. Includes the original box
featuring an end label listing nickel finish and 2 1/2 inch barrel, bore brush and “Shooting Suggestions” and “Protected by Colt” pamphlets.
CONDITION: Excellent, retains 99% original nickel finish with a small spot of flaking on the butt. The grips are fine with some minor-moderate pressure dents on the bottoms and crisp checkering
overall. Mechanically excellent. The box is very good showing minimal wear and a tear on the front portion of the lid. A rare boxed variation of a .32 Police Positive that will be a welcome addition to
a Colt DA revolver collection.

Excellent Colt New Service Model Double Action Revolver with Factory Letter - Serial
no. 58519, 45 Colt cal., 7 1/2 inch round bbl., blue finish, hard rubber grips. Manufactured in
1913. The included factory letter confirms the current configuration including the 7 1/2 inch
barrel chambered for .45 caliber, blue finish, type of grips not listed when sent in a shipment
of two to Murta Appleton & Company in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on March 6, 1913. Features fixed
blade front and topstrap notch rear sights, lanyard loop on the butt, standard two-line
Colt address and patent dates on top of the barrel with the model and caliber listed on
the left, “rampant colt” on the left of the frame, along with “triangle/VP” and “3” on the left
of the trigger guard. Fitted with a pair of replacement period checkered hard rubber grips
with “COLT” logos and numbered on the interiors to different revolvers.
CONDITION: Excellent, retaining 90% plus bright original high polish blue finish with a minor cylinder
drag line, some minor thinning on the grip straps revealing brown patina, some minor freckling, and minor
handling marks. The grips are very fine with the left grip sun faded, well defined logos and checkering.
Mechanically excellent.
