Revolver with Carved Steer Head
Pearl Grip, and Original Box with
Factory Letter - Serial no. 376468,

finish, pearl grips. This is a fantastic
example of a documented factory
engraved Colt Police Positive revolver
with factory carved steer head pearl
grip. The included Colt factory letter
confirms the caliber, barrel length, blue
finish, carved steer head pearl stocks,
factory checkering on the back strap
and factory grade 1 engraving with
“C.A. Forest” inscribed on the butt. The revolver was shipped to the commanding officer of the Pennsylvania State Police, Troop C of Reading,
Pennsylvania, on December 19, 1928 as part of a one gun shipment on order number 15707/1. The barrel has the two line Colt Hartford address/
patent dates marking on top and the model/caliber marking on the left side. A Rampant Colt is stamped on the left side plate. The factory grade
1 floral scroll and punch dot engraving is featured on the barrel sides, the frame sides and trigger guard with a floral scroll pattern on the cylinder
chambers, butt, front sides of the frame at the breech and top strap. The barrel marking side and the Rampant Colt are surrounded by the factory
engraving. Checkered trigger, blade front sight and hammer with polished sides. The back strap has factory checkering. The pearl grips have
silver Rampant Colt medallions with a carved steer head on the right panel. The Colt factory box is numbered to the gun and has the correct
end label along with correct “SPECIAL” and “ENGRAVED” factory labels. The inside of the factory paper hinge box has the correct Colt labels. The
following items are with the revolver: bore brush, Colt instructions pamphlet and Bair’s patent wooden cleaning rod.
CONDITION: Exceptionally fine. The revolver retains 95% original blue finish with loss at the muzzle and a light cylinder drag line. The butt has
been professionally restored script inscribed “C.A. FOREST” The grips are also excellent with the pearl having a very attractive color. Mechanically
excellent. The box is fine showing edge wear and a couple split corners.
